In big clubs there are lot of video repeaters (digital) and it causes that video is delayed from audio.

If the decoding engine could have an adjustement for video offset, that could be fine as re-authoring videos (specially for each club) is a very hard way to solve it.

VDJ will just send out the video out of sync, and it will get in sync while the video will travel thru all the circuitry to the big led screen/projectors etc....

It's implementable as a plugin, but it's better in the main program as you'd get much better timing resolution. Would be a very useful feature I feel :)

nice one

had that problem at the hardrock cafe
almost half a second delay
most screens are out of my sight
some customers that actually watched closely
approached me and told me that

That is why establishments that have multiple displays need to invest in audio delay hardware if they want to have the 'sync' to be accurate.
Since the audio is reaching the distant location before the video, the audio needs delayed.

Think about it ... the software can only manage one delay setting - so if you have a close output and a distant output - what would you delay the software too? If you choose the distant output then the close display will be out-of-sync and the reverse would be true if you chose the close display.

So for audio ... http://www.directproaudio.com/product.cfm?directid=55232

And if the video is ahead of the audio then ...
Something like this just might do the trick for video ... http://www.ovation.co.uk/DelayLine/DelayLine.html

Chris,
I will explain more,

I did not mean the delay of audio because of "traveling" thru the air from the distant speakers. Consider just the dancefloor, me infront of it, and big led screen above my head.

The problem is that audio is instant and you are able to beatmatch even to main speakers, not monitors/headphones.
This would be broken in case of audio delay.

The point is to have in sync just the main screen (in my case big led screen that is behind the dj).

As you see there's no dj booth but just raised floor.
Even Pioneer DVJ-X1 they have there does not support this and they are way expensive. If it could be correctly incorporated in VDJ it could be a big advantage.
Then even beat synced video effects such as BOOM/ZOOM could be nice at least on the MAIN SCREEN.

I understand that you cannot "foresee" the video if it's live, but in case you play from the vobs/avi/dvd you just send
out audio for 1:30'100 but video from 1:30'050 for example. To have also nice effects in sync you need made adjustmens for video plugins when they "access" the CBG.

So from the viewers perception everything would be fine, dj can mix as before, only one unsolvable thing is that when you trigger transition/effect it would take e.g. half a second to appear on the screen. But when it appears, it's in sync with music and also rhythm.

I don't think it's a big deal in coding, just put the offset, some protection if you ask for non existent pictures (before start of song), adjust cbg for video plugins.

I have just purchased the VirtualDJ 6.0.3 and I too have video / sound sync problems. VOB's I have just ripped using the installed ripper are not recognised by Windows Media Player 11 but work fine in Windows Media Player Classic. No delays detectable. However Video / Sound is way out of sync using VDJ 6. I also cannot get WMV files to play in VDJ 6. Any ideas out there. I tried various codecs without success.

Any ideas on if/when this will be implemented? I found a workaround on windows with the ffdmpeg codec which allows me to delay the audio for a few milliseconds, but i'm using a MacBook now and it would be really nice if this feature is implemented directly in VDJ

I only have a small system so I don't have this problem too much, but I think it's a killer feature to have. A real professional feature for people that play the large places.

And something that you could only do with a computer. "Forseeing" the video rather than delaying the audio is a very clever solution.
