Hi all. I have virtual dj 6.0.1 2 denon cd player/midi controllers and korg midi mixer.
I have istalled denon aiso driver,korg midi driver for firewire port because I am using for controlling Ableton soft.
I have managed setup denons as sound card and mapped functions appeard straight away.I have connected mixer with midi to usb cable with in and out plugs.If I want to setup external mixer and apply changes then i got message "error in the aiso sound driver, not enough channels"
Should I get aiso4all driver and install extra to my exsisting drivers?
In the mappers tab I have devices : keybord,denon dns3700 and simple mixi wrapper.

Hi mate.

If you are using VDJ ver 6 it would be worth making shure ALL the drivers are up to date but you will need to register your serial number to download most of this sites contents.

Hi.I have new drivers...i think.What if i have demo version of vdj?Should i put number from it?

You will find that the demo version will only let you run the software to try it and wont give you the download capability.
You seem to have some realy good kit so if VDJ is working for you then you would need to purchace the pro version licence. In comparison to the cost of the equipment you have, the cost of the pro version is peanuts so give it a go.

Just a quick thought.

If you are using an external mixer i would suggest you use either the output from the Denons sound card into analogue channels on the mixer or dissable the Denon sound cards and use the usb link to the mixer and configure this as your sound card. depends which you think has better quality. Not shure why you seem to be using both.

At the moment have pair of denon dns3700 connected via usb to laptop,mixer connected via usb to midi cable to laptop.
I'd like to control vdj decks with my denon decks and vdj mixer( line faders,crossfader,equalizer,some other buttons) with my korg mixer.
I have decks connected to audio channels with my mixer.So looks like i can not assign these channels to vdj.There is an option to setup korg channels audio/midi combination.
My question is how to setup decks as sound card and be able to use mixer faders,crossfader and eq with virtual dj?

I think that the Denon asio driver only provides control over two decks and this is why you will be getting the asio error. You can, as you suggested try using an alternative asio driver but what I am not shure about is how the Denons will behave with a non Denon driver.

I understand that you want the skin to reflect what the hardware mixer is doing but my concern is that when using the mixer as a control surface and an analogue mixer at the same time the software mixer will conflict with what the hardware mixer is doing and vice versa.

Normaly, if you were using the Denon sound cards you would just use a skin which dosn't have the mixer and then, as you have already done use the external mixer for combining the analogue audio. Or configure one of the sound cards to produce the combined master signal from the VDJ mixer and the sound card on your laptop for a headphone output then the Korg becomes a control surface only.

Yes but if I am using both denon devices both tracks go only from one deck.I can control both vdj decks with my decks separate.There is an option to use channels as midi/audio setup.You get signals from decks and can control midi function with other buttons and knobs.There is small problem,sound goes only from one device.
There must be an option to use both decks and get two signals from cd players,and cutt signals with crossfader.
Another reason is I want to use midi on mixer bacause video files.I'd like to blend two videoclips with crossfader,get sound from decks and video from laptop.

Ok just for clarity here I would like to split this into two issues.

1. (Forget the mixer for a second)Have you managed to configure VDJ to output deck A's audio signal from deck A's sound card and deck B's signal From deck B's sound card? or can you only get both from one card/Denon. If you are only getting one output then the configuration is not correct.

2. using the mixer we can deal with once we get the basic config of your Denon sound cards correct.

I have managed to contol both VDJ decks and have now two tracks on separate mixer channels.If I go to preferences and mapping section,there is learn function.In the device bar I have got keybord and simple midi wrapper.Should my mixer be on the list? If I press learn button and try assign crossfader action for example then I move corssfader ,I get command from mixer (o cc119)but virtual corssfader is not moving.

If you go to config/mappers then look just to the right of the dropdown arrow for mapper selection window you will see a small square icon. click on this and uncheck "show only connected devices" and make shure that "use midi devices is checked.

The first action will let you see all the supported mappers in the dropdown menu. The second step is to make shure that midi devices are selected.

With your mixer connected and switched on select "rescan for new devices" amd see if your mixer shows up as a new midi device. If not Select simple midi wrapper from the dropdown list and then try the auto learn again.

You was right about extra usb to midi cable.I can get commands from mixer with firewire connection as well.
I done what you told me.I have unchecked " show connected device only",choose simple midi wrapping.When autolern button is pushed and function is selected i am moving crossfader or fader.In mappers window i can se commands appearing like 2cc11 or 1cc2.So in this case is my korg midi driver ok?Maybe still driver does not work with vdj?
Btw I've got rid of aiso 4all driver abd usb cable.
There is another issue.If i use both denon decks in pitch bend mode is ok,if turn on vinyl mode then one of decks has no scratch option.Is it normal?
If there is both decks in pause/play mode i can sratch both tunes,if one is playing tune and one in pause mode still ok but if both decks are playing then only one tune i can scratch.

Sounds like you are nearly there.

What is the model number of the Korg mixer you are using?

Don't pannic about the scratch problem just yet we can looka at that later. I will probably be a setup issue but I dont want to confuse things so lets deal with one at a time.

If you are seeing the data change on the mapper window it means that VDJ is in fact reading the midi signal being sent from the kork so we just have to work out the script required to assign this to the VDJ skin/mixer. so it looks like the mixer hookup is ok.

PS how long do you have to run on your trial version?

Ok.Maybe it is installation problem?Why can't I just delete it and install again.I have got soft few days only.
Mixer is Korg zero 4.

I dont think this is an install problem at all.

Its just a case of setting everything up to get it to do what you want. You have to enter the korrect script because the Zero 4 is not natively mapped in VDJ. Its not a problem but will require some patience to sort out. To give you an example lets take the cross fader there are 2 ways to map this. You select simple midi wrapper and then you have to tell VDJ what you want it to do so, select (new) then inthe key box enter CROSSFADER then in the Action box enter crossfader. Note the upper and lower case. Or select Autolearn and enter crossfader.

Nb Autolearn is there to let you identify the key/knob/fader/switch or whatever then you tell VDJ what you want this item to control in the action box.

Give it a go and let me know.

Hey Daz.
It works now.I have entered corssfader in key bar and in action bar.I thought if you type name of command in action bar and press autolearn you get name of vdj command name like 2cc1 or some other ones.Is the way entering same names in both bars pushing autolearn button and move slider or button on mixer to assign to function in vdj?
Btw i have to use usb to midi cable,firewire does not work.
I know from internet that windows xp with sp2 has got some problems slowing down this port.
So can I get some help with this scratch mode on both decks now?

just browsed the topic not really sure what issues you are having. i have two 5500 in midi mode and a zero 4 using asio driver. decks in ch1 and ch2 set to firewire audio and ch3 and ch4 set to firewire midi for controlling knobs in vdj. i use the zero4's asio driver set to 3ms and 1.5ms. you can only assign the items that turn green in mdi mode to midi commands on the zero4. you cannot assign faders that i know of. its basically only the channel knobs, the a/b selector, headphone selector, and the effects on/off/mute switch per channel. why would you want to control the vdj crossfader and faders? is it just for visual appeal because it is not accomplishing anything. the mixer doesnt need any mappings to work since the actual mixing is done outside of vdj when set to using an external mixer.

hola yo tengo 2 denon dns 3700 p[ero no me trabaja bien con virtual dj la vercion q uso es la 6.06, creo q la ultima, casi todo me trabaja pero el plato cuando trato de scrach nada mas lo hace para adelante si lo mueves hacia atras no trabaja.. quien me puede ayudar por favor....

does anybody know something to work with denon dns3700 and virtual dj please?
