i've noticed that 6.3 update includes literation for greek and I have lots of music in hebrew.

there are only 22 hebrew letters. 4 of them are vowels.

there are also ending letters.. which are letters that are used at the end.

text is written from right to left.

later i'll post up pictures on how and what each letter represents.

and now for the english search of hebrew transliteration.. mind you. it cannot be perfect due to the simplicity of the basic writng and the complexcity of it's vowels. each letter by its self has a built in vowel system. an M can make the sound of Ma, Me, Mi, Mo, Mu. with the vowel not being written in the word. To make it even more fun. Even the vowels have a built in vowel system. A can make the sound of Aa Ae Ai Ao Au.

so let's start.

א is called Alef and makes the sound of A or E [VOWEL]
ב is called Bet and makes the sound of B
ג is called Gimel and makes the sound of G or J
ד is called Dalet and makes the sound of D
ה is called Hey and makes the sound of H [VOWEL]
ו is called Vav and makes the sound of O or V or U [VOWEL]
ז is called Zayin and makes the sound of Z
ח is called Khet and makes the sound of Kh or Ch
ט is called Tet and makes the sound of T or Th
י is called Youd and makes the sound of Y or I or E [VOWEL]
כ is called Khaf and makes the sound of K, or C, or KH, or CH
ך is called Khaf Sofit. It replaces the letter Khaf if it's at the end of the word. Else it's Khaf. Note: Sofit means Ending.
ל is called Lamed and makes the sound of L
מ is called Mem and makes the sound of M
ם is called Mem Sofit. It replaces the letter Mem if it's at the end of the word. Else it's Mem.
נ is called Nun and makes the sound of N
ו is called Nun Sofit. It replaces the letter Nun if it's at the end of the word. Else it's Nun.
ס is called Samekh and makes the sound of S or C
ע is called Ayin and makes the sound of A [VOWEL]
פ is called Pey and makes the sound of P or F
ף is called Pey Sofit. It replaces the letter Pey if it's at the end of the word. Else it's Pey.
צ is called Tzadik and makes the sound of TZ or Z
ץ is called Tzadik Sofit
ק is called Kuf and makes the sound of K or C or Q
ר is called Resh and makes the sound of R
ש is called Shin and makes the sound of SH
ת is called Taf and makes the sound of T or TH or S

if a search term for Shabat was entered, the True search query is שבת. remember that vowels are almost never written.

sh = ש
a is an included vowel for SH
b = ב
a is an included vowel for B
t =ת

Shabat .. ש*ב*ת or ש*ב*ט

the * means that there may be a vowel. in there.

here's another example.

eyal should find the word אייל

e = א
y = י
a = volwel includef for y written as י
l = ל

there is no such thing as lower case or upper case in hebrew.

I sure hope this is helping. Do you get it? send me PM if not clear yet. I'll explain in detail what's not clear.

to keep the search engine fast, the transliteration in vdj has been kept very simple and can match only one english letter for each hebrew letter.
I know it's not perfect, but we didn't want to considerably slow down the whole english search engine just for the sake of transliterations.
So, we need to assign each hebrew character, an english character that can be typed instead.
What do you think of:

א=A
ב=B
ג=G
ד=D
ה=H
ו=V
ז=Z
ח=K
ט=T
י=Y
כ=K
ך=K
ל=L
מ=M
ם=M
נ=N
ו=N
ס=S
ע=A
פ=P
ף=P
צ=Z
ץ=Z
ק=K
ר=R
ש=S
ת=T

i think you can start advertising in Israel once this is added.

are you kidding me. the list is better than perfect. even simpler than the one i thought of.

my list was about converting hebrew to english. your list converts english to hebrew. and when we'll be typing, we'll be typing in english, so your method is so much easier than mine. so much easier.

the list is perfect, great job.
