Topic: POIs : Are they lost if I move my external disk from a VDJ8 to a VDJ7 installation ?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I have defined (manually) a number of POIs on songs in a VDJ8 installation.
My songs are stored in an external usb stick.
A database.xml file exist on that disk.
I move my external disk to another PC with VDJ7 installation.
I notice that a new xml file is created (relative to VDJ7 I suppose).
Automix does not respect the previously (and manually) defined POIs.
Any ideas to maintain them ?
Regards Theodore

I don't think VDJ saves POI's with the songs by default. You might want to copy over your original database XML file.

It is already saved, but VDJ7 creates a new xml file.
I think VDJ7 does not read the (VDJ8) database.xml but the new one created.
This one of course does not contain the manually defined POIs (on the VDJ8)

That is correct. VirtualDJ 8 will read and convert a ver 7 database if no ver 8 database is created (so, the first time you use VirtualDJ 8 with a Hard Drive), but not vice versa.

Since you have used Version 8, is there a reason why not keep using that to your other computer ?

VDJ8 is a free version. VDJ7 is a paid version

If you have a full VDJ 7 Pro license then VDJ 8 is a free upgrade. You will however need to register the VDJ 7 license to your account here, so that VDJ 8 will recognise it.
