Topic: File Info Changed after Edit

What I Did was changed some spacing issues on 30 karaoke files using "Flash Renamer" program in the folder, when I oppened in VDJ my "FirstSeen" and "playcount" was wrong.
Then I opened VDJ XML file I was able to see the my old file info which was correct and the new one which was not correct, ...So how can I correct this using the old info already there to reflect the correct information on that file.
The change was made in a regular folder, not a Virtual folder..

Thanks...

edit the xml file or put the file names back to the way they were.

always best to edit file names inside vdj or just leave them be and fix the tags.

Renaming files in general is not recommended, as it may affect other paths, such as playlists, vdjedit files etc.
Best is to leave filenames unchanged and use/edit Tags using VirtualDJ (or any other 3rd party app and then reload tags within VDJ)

I removed the new track for search, went into xml and edit back the original spacing issue in the old file database line and did the same to the folder file and it didn't work after starting VDJ again. I don't understand why not?

One more thing I did, I copped the file to a different folder and then open xml file and changed the file path to the new folder, but it didn't change the first seen & last played info, it still had the new edit date in those fields?

Do you have 2 entries in the database xml file for each one of those 30 tracks ? One with the old name and another with the edited ?
Do a search.
(Well, both would probably have the same filename, as you probably re-edited the new entry)

yes it did have separate line entries for each..
One with the new edit date and one with the original date and correct field information..

did ? not anymore ?
If you still have both entries in xml, then delete the new entry (without the correct file info, pla y count etc) and leave the old one (after correcting the filename with the current one).. then open VDJ and see if it shows fine now.

Okay, so I should highlight the entire in-correct line and press delete key to remove them and leave only the correct line in the database?
Just trying to be sure of what I am doing, or Backspace to remove and then save?

...So I removed the other reference lines in the xml database and left Only one, The Top Example as Above, then saved file and re-opened VDJ and got an error "xml file corrupt", so it's obvious I did something wrong here..

What is the proper way of removing those extra file lines from the database xml file...or is there another way to accomplish the same result?

Need some help, please

You just delete the lines between <Song ...> and </Song>

I suppose after the corrupt message, VDJ fixed the DB and started , right ?
What do you get when searching for "Beenie Man" ?
Do you get all 3 tracks or just 1 ? If you get the working one, then the other 2 can be removed from DB with Right-click ->Remove from Search DB

Just got back, I didn't try to fix it in VDJ I shut down and replaced with an easier copy before the edit...
Should I try repairing first?

Okay I deleted other entries and left the old, but every time I re-start VDJ it writes a new entry with a new date?
The examples of these I posted yesterday on this thread..
Could I go into the entry that works and change the firstseen date there?

I fixed them, but I ran into other files the Title or artist with the & in them was incorrect, example;
You're Making Me High .....which = You're making me high.?
I Love You More Then You'll Ever Know......which = I love You More Then You'll Ever Know?

Don't know how this happen, what can I do to fix this issue, the file name & tags reads correctly, but xml file line reads like above on many.

you are only seeing this"'" in the xml correct?

pretty sure that's the way they express apostrophe so it doesn't mess up the coding of the xml file. it should display correctly when you view in the application.

Good to know, thanks for that input.
I notice another issue though, on some files that I fixed which show up correctly now when I look in their folder, but will not show up on a browser search?

I even put the file Zoom (KV).mp4 in the side list to make sure and will not show up in the browser window, only a Zoom.mp3 file.
