I found a bug or just an error. In the bar counter there is no such bar 0.0, it doesn't exist and would be a negative bar. the 1st bar is 1.1. You guys gotta remember djing still follows the basic music theory. Before anyone tries to prove me wrong, turn on any sequencer drum machine and the first bar is 1:1.... Please fix it throws off the phase a whole bar.

Fantastic upgrade - thanks!
Only quibble - ditto 6 decks!
(I don't know if it is just the way I work, but even if using extra decks beyond 2 I am usually only needing all the information from 2 decks at any one time so it is much better for me to have a less cluttered interface with two decks showing and basic visuals on any other decks running. Also I always found having the extra decks 5&6 really useful for specialist usage....)

I just wanted to add some information about 4 decks and 6 decks layouts and how they're used. Sometimes, it's useful to have 4 or more decks loaded because you might blend 2 or more tracks, let's say 1 track, 1 filtered track just for the high hats mixed together, then when the vocals go into a break, you can add an acapella or two back to back, then you'll still need to mix out with a loop playing which might be the intro instead of an outro, so you'll need another deck available to facilitate this operation. Somewhere in all of this, you could play 1 or 2 or more intro samples through the decks to cover breaks that don't have any vocals or to give a build-up before the 1. For this situation, sometimes having 4 to 6 full deck layouts and all of the decks visible in the master waveform (stacked/overlapping) or non-performance layout would be ideal especially when you're hands are busy and you need those extra sound bytes/drops liners to be quantized. Then you can switch back to another deck layout to see your browser again.
Another way of using 4 to 6 decks is having 2 of your main decks (1 and 2) loaded, and then auditioning potential mix options that are going to take place after those tracks have been mixed out of by using decks 3 and 4, (5 and 6 could be used for intros or samples, sound effects when you need to do special things with them and have full control over them) and need them quantized. If you change your mind, you can unload decks 3 and 4 and keep auditioning more potential mix options without disturbing decks 1 and 2. This could also be used while recording mixes in a non-live environment when you might need to go back to decks 1 and 2 to change what section of the track you should mix out of, like the chorus or outro, etc. I know the Sandbox mode would help in this situation, but sometimes that could be too risky.
That brings us to the production style mixing of using 4, 6 or more decks when you're actually going to be blending 4 or more tracks (using filters, EQ, and volume levels) either at the same time, or consecutively when unloading and loading new tracks into decks wouldn't be ideal because you'd miss your break/mix out section. Then after the phrase completes let's say 8 or 16 bars worth of those decks being busy, you could audition with decks 5 and 6 and still make changes without touching your main desks and without having to save your deck set and re-load as often (but that's very handy) to have that option. Now, with all of this going on, you still need to mix out of those 4 decks with additional decks and having all 6 waveforms stacked/overlapping would be helpful (especially when intros aren't a perfect measure in front of 4 bars) and when a browser view isn't necessary, but you could bring back the useable browser view layout at a click of a menu drop down option. It's like a painter knows how to not paint himself into a corner and leaves an escape route available at all times. Tile setters use this method also so they won't trap themselves while the motar's still setting.
So basically, some people only use 2 decks, some use 2 main decks, and 2 that can be swapped because they don't need the extra information, then there's performance users, who need 4 full or more decks that won't stack/overlap, then there's people who like live remixing, creative, quick mix, production style mixing that need as much real estate and information possible and want to toggle the browser view as needed.
I hope this could somehow make it into VDJ2020 8.4. The other option would be to use 2 laptops or computers to have 8 full decks going over the Wi-Fi, something I might end up doing, but that takes up a lof of booth space. I still feel 2018's more functional and 2020's more for convincing people that VDJ can look more professional. I'd like a true Old or Classic Skin option to stay within VDJ2020 permanently and perhaps with a few layout configuration options. Thanks!

VirtualDJ itself (as a program) supports up to 99 decks.
So technically there's no practical limitation to how many decks you can use, nor you need two laptops to have more decks.
The difficult part is to find the necessary space on your screen to display the number of decks you would like, and find a good balance between having many decks and a small browser VS. having a small amount of decks with bigger browser.
That's where the advantage of having a customizable GUI comes handy. You can customize the GUI to suit your specific needs (e.g. 2 main decks and 4 small ones, 4 main decks and 2 small ones, 6 equal decks, or even -why not- 2 main decks with 8 small decks... :P)

You could even have pop up floating decks in a window...
I wonder if it’s possible to script a new deck number each time a pop up deck is opened?

It is possible, but it should not be abused (each time you redefine the decks number the skin has to be reloaded I think)
So it's better to have let's say 4 decks defined and then bring up a window with 4 more and redefine to 8 decks, than bring up 2 windows (with 2 decks each) and redefine to 6 and then to 8.

Yeah PhantomDeejay, not saying that it's a program issue - there's even a skin which uses 99 decks as I recall!
No doubt there may be other skins with 6 decks available, I was just saying that I liked the default one that had 6 skins and it would be great if there was that option with a default skin again :-)

OK so better to set nbdecks to e.g. 10, then just have e.g. two main decks and 8 floaters (or 4 pairs maybe).

If you intend to use the same XML for various number of decks, you can use ..
<nbdecks value="2" condition="var_equal '@$4decks' 0"/>
<nbdecks value="4" condition="var_not_equal '@$4decks' 0"/>
instead of adding nbdecks="" in <skin>, but yes, you need to reload the skin, so in the buttons that toggle between 2 and 4 decks, you need to use somethign like.
set '@$4decks' 1 & load_skin
<nbdecks value="2" condition="var_equal '@$4decks' 0"/>
<nbdecks value="4" condition="var_not_equal '@$4decks' 0"/>

Congrats, Virtual DJ 2020 looks very sharp!
I am just missing the horizontal prelisten bar

I used to use the Custom Buttons.
As I see there are only in the PRO Layout.
Is it a way to have them in Starter or Essential Layout, as I prefer the decks in those?

I was wrong, I've just had a report of this happen, there's something here in some weird edge case.

The starter skin is a stripped down skin with bare minimal , for newbies that are unfamiliar with DJing ;-)
Essential with the bare essentials, and is without many things. Custom buttons you can use though, on pads in that skin.
Simply choose custom at pad menu, and put your custom things to those buttons
(for more extended features, Pro layout..)

change setting 'browserAutoZoom'
(It is off by default, so most likely you enabled it for one reason or another)

Minor Observation....
On the 4 deck 'Pro' and 'Performance' skins the 'masterdeck' indicator changes from a slightly dull white to a very slightly brighter white to indicate which is the current masterdeck - not very clearly differentiated and difficult to read, especially in the heat of the moment!
Would it be possible for that to be made clearer (i.e current 'masterdeck' indicated in red or whatever)? I'm not bad at scripting but know diddly squat about working with skins so any help appreciated!

I've been playing with VDJ2020 a lot more and I'm trying to adapt to it and I admit it's a fun experience to explore a new layout and cool features, but I still feel the need to go back to the Old/Setting for 4 full decks or going back to the non-updated 2018 version. I'm happy 2020 left the Old option intact, but there's an error that keeps occurring:
1. I'm receiving an error, 4 deck skin cannot be loaded dialog pops up on the screen when I switch from VDJ2020 64-bit to the VDJ2018 32-bit executable.
The only way to temporarily solve this issue's to go into the settings and choose 4 deck mode from there instead of the drop-down menu and this enables the skin to switch. I've noticed if I go back to VDJ2020 64-bit, I have to choose my layout again, and after I do and go back to VDJ2018 32-bit, the layout defaults to 2 decks, then I receive the same error if I try and select 4 decks from the drop-down menu and I have to repeat going into the settings each time to resolve.
If both 32-bit and 64-bit versions have their own executable, why does this error keep happening? Is there anything I can do to resolve this error? I have the 32-bit 2018 non-updated, and the 64-bit version updated to VDJ8.4 2020. I've updated the 64-bit version from within the software. Should I download it manually to resolve this issue?
Thanks!

Well. typical!, your question includes the answer. here.
The default skins are built-in and not separate zip files like the custom ones.
What a skin error like this tells you is that the last used skin or skin element in settings file (that is shared) does not exist in the older build. Totally normal as the 2020 build is newer.
if for any reason you want to keep both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions for a while just update both to the same build.
(The old 2018 skin is still included so you don't need any 2018 build).

You could save an edit of the new skin, then it will be there when you use the old exe. It will even run.
