I want to modify a video skin to put a solid color (green) background for better choma than black background.

Depends on the skin and videos ... and VDJ version (32bit and 64bit do not render the same) and what you intend to do
in fact many are doable, as well as full transparency
you can modify your png with color you want (or transparency or even white in some cases)
you can add a full background or add a "<square" element with the color you want in the xml
you even can add a color / B/W / transparent overlay (shaped)

I’m use skin video capturing on OBS. No video files, only for name, artist, cover and wave graph.
But using black as background, some covers show with transparent zones.
I want to put a green background.

With no skin you can slideshow with a folder having only a green pic
or modifiing skin
add a green background as a square on top of your skin (no need to change image already used by your skin)
i.e.:
<skin name="GreenCover" version="8.4" author="Ntx" width="1920" height="1080" image="green.png">
<square color="green" width="1920" height="1080"/>
<cover width="1920" height="1080"/>
</skin>
or modifiing skin
