Hello VirtualDJ Team,
I’d like to share an idea that could provide a simple and practical improvement to synced lyrics management in VirtualDJ.
Today, some synced lyrics contain errors caused by AI speech recognition, imperfect transcriptions, or low-quality lyric sources. In many cases, the word-by-word synchronization is already correct, but the actual text needs correction.
To address this, I developed a small open-source utility that greatly simplifies the process.
Current Workflow
1. The user copies the existing AI-generated lyrics from the VirtualDJ Lyrics window (even if the text contains errors).
2. The tool automatically finds the corresponding lyrics entry inside the VirtualDJ lyrics database.
3. The user can either:
* Paste a manually corrected version of the lyrics, or
* Search LRCLIB directly by song title and/or artist.
4. When multiple versions are available on LRCLIB, the user can preview and select the correct one.
5. The tool intelligently replaces the lyric text while preserving the existing synchronization and timing structure.
The main benefit is speed: a complete song can be corrected in a few seconds without manually resynchronizing lyrics.
LRCLIB Integration
One particularly useful addition is the ability to search the LRCLIB database directly from the correction interface.
The workflow is simple:
* Enter the song title (and optionally the artist name).
* Query LRCLIB.
* Choose the correct version among the returned results.
* Automatically import the lyrics into the correction editor.
This is especially useful for songs that VirtualDJ’s AI struggles to recognize correctly, including regional languages, live recordings, alternative versions, or songs with uncommon lyrics.
Preservation of Existing VirtualDJ Data
The tool:
* Preserves all existing timestamps.
* Preserves VirtualDJ’s screen/page structure.
* Keeps the current synchronization intact.
* Creates an automatic backup of extra.db before any modification.
* Allows reviewing the final XML before writing changes.

Example
I successfully tested the utility on songs such as Nougayork, where automatic lyric recognition can be challenging. By importing corrected lyrics, the text can be fixed while keeping the synchronization already generated by VirtualDJ.
Possible Native Integration in VirtualDJ
I believe a similar feature could be integrated directly into VirtualDJ with a simple option such as:
“Replace Lyrics Text (Keep Sync)”
or
“Correct Lyrics While Preserving Timing”
and potentially:
“Search Correct Lyrics on LRCLIB”
This would allow users to quickly improve synchronized lyrics while preserving the timing work already performed by VirtualDJ.
Thank you for your excellent work on VirtualDJ and for the many innovations you have brought to the software over the years. It remains an incredible piece of software that continues to evolve in impressive ways.

I've just run into something here tonight. The lyrics have a lot of repetition and there's a wrong word in the text multiple times. A search and replace would be useful.

I suggest improvements to the existing system could be:
Provide an option to find lyrics online rather than "listening" via AI, or use online sources as 2FA to confirm that AI is correct.
If AI lyrics are incorrect, then deleting and replacing with pasted in lyrics should not delete timing/positioning information, or there should be an option for the rescan to only determine position.
