Forum: PC Version Technical Support - Topic: Invalid Skin File (error line %i in the xml)

Hello! I just updated to v5.2 pro in a XP machine. I cant get the software to run. It loads the splash screen but when it says "Loading Skin" I get an: "Invalid Skin File (error line %i in the xml" alert message and it closes. I tried reinstaling the software and downloading it again and completly deleting the folder and reinstaling with no luck.

Any help with this?

Reboot your machine. Also, if your using a laptop, try clicking on the maximize tab once you get your machine up and running.

when vdj starts up choose one of their default skin.

Well... after several reboots, the software eventually works
But if you close it, the same issue appears.
Will try to use v5.1 and see what happens.

Try deleting the skin then re-downloading and installing them.

You may also have VDJ configured to by default load a skin that was compatible with an old version, but not a newer version. This happened to me once. Simply rename the skin file you were using, the program will default to the VDJ skin, and then you can use the skin browser to go through and see for sure if the skin you used to use no longer works.

I have the hercules mk2 and the console version, and I just downloaded the trial for Pro 5.2, and found exactly the same 'Invalid skin file' on the console version when I tried to start it today. The trial version works ok, but the original won't load at all.
Is it likely this will correct itself when the trial finishes, or am I going to have to rename/delete the skin I think is causing the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
