i been reading the site and its info
but theres something missing from all points of the info

it all tells you how to configure the program, setup your music folders, what hardware to use and so on but

what about the connection between the hardware ( CD / TURNTABLES ) and your software?

what do i need in between?

If my timecoded cds are in the DUAL CD PLAYERS ( Denons )
and the program to understand the movement on the cds is in the computer ( laptop )

the only INPUT for audio to the laptop would be the MIC or LINE IN input on the soundcard

ok great
i can get a cable from my hardware dj mixer to the laptop no problem
i do that now to record
but uhh..... what about the USB on the laptop
does it need to go somewhere too?

Theres no USB anything on any of my dj equipment so........ what do i need ihere?

Denon website says i can use the DENON DN-D4500
but i dont see that info here. Here it tells me i can use a completely different DENON Dual CD player

First you got to ask yourself what kind of equipment you want to use...

1) A midi controller to control VDJ
- Hercules RMX, Vestax VCI-100 etc

2) Timecode control (using a special timecode CD or Vinyl)
- with traditional DJ gear

3) A CD player that can both play CDs and control VDJ directly
- Numark iCDX, Pioneer CDJ 400, and some of the Denon Players

When you have some idea what you want to use, I'll gladly tell you how to set it up, what you need etc

:)

actaully both of these apply because my cd player will play time coded cds / mp3s / and audio cds

also ill need something to control VDJ because
well.. im going digital so all the newer stuff i play will be in the external drive
therefore ill need to controll whats playing via the use if VDJ

when i say BOTH OF THESE.. i mean these lol :

Ok... but 2 and 3 are a bit different...

Nr2 is using traditional DJ gear (just regular old dj gear), with a special timecode CD or vinyl to control a dj software.
Do you have such DJ gear, or plan to use such ?

Nr3 is new dj gear, that has support for dj software built in (midi or hid), where you do not need a timecode cd.
It will control VDJ straight out of the box, plug and play.

Anyways, with most (if no soundcard is also built in, some at nr3 has that), you would also need a soundcard with two stero inputs and two stereo outputs. Such as Maya 44 usb, U46dj, or any good usb surround card really.. (but ASIO drivers needed IF timecode is to be used)

From the soundcards TWO stereo inputs, you would connect your traditonal gear with timecode cd/vinyl.
From the soundcards TWO stereo outputs, you would connect to two separate channels at your external mixer...
And mix as normal

This would be a normal club dj setup.

But there are other ways too...

Let me know a bit more exact what you will be using, if you still wonder how it works ;)

hmm looks like i MIGHT be stumped on this one
Sonds like ill be doing # 2 in the list above

lets talk dj equipment that plays Time Coded CDS then shalll we?

Here we go

first off. the Laptop
Looks to me it has two inputs.
Line in ( Stereo )
Mic In ( stereo )
i know they both work very well because i use them frequently

Both of these are built in so each one is 1/8" jack

Now at least i know i can get the sound TO the laptop.. or can i......

I output my sound from another rackmount unit in my dj rack
Its a CD REcorder but it only has ONE Rightside output
and ONE Left side output
( it also has left and right input but thats getting the sound from the mixers output and will be taken up )

the problem i see is
apparently the built in soundcard has two inputs
but it only has ONE stereo output
