my new dell thats coming tomorrow has all those fancy things as well and was half the price of your mac. including an ALL aluminum body back lit keyboard standard etc. and yes i have used mac and guess what it didn't blow me away. i have always had a dedicated gig machine that doesn't need to hit the internet. i don't download at events or search the web etc. i don't use netsearch nor will i ever. i have plenty of other laptops if i need a internet one at a gig. shit my touch screen toshiba i use for my dmx lighting has internet and is 10" if needed. actaully my current laptop a dvd6700 worked pretty much flawless after i set it up a side from the gpu/mb issue which i have fixed. i don;t really worry about nor have had a virus for like 7 years on any of my machines. to each his own some like mac some like pc the debate will go on forever.

@Cyder,
I think we're all aware of that thread, but it doesn't affect everyone. If synystr has a 64bt setup that works perfectly for him, then what's the problem? Sounds like scaremongering to me...

come on man IMAGE is everything with the new breed of djs. Isn't it? I mean why would you need to worry about mixing and cutting if you have a cool glowing apple in front of you. :)

Nobody hated Mac as much as I did.
Their marketing scheme bashing pc rather than their own quality was a big turn off.
Then, because of support needs and the other reasons I listed above, I tested the waters.
All I am saying is that the experience has been awesome.
And anyone who hasn't owned both PC and Mac (intel) does not have a valid opinion.
My perspective in comparison has the Mac ahead.
I gauge performance over cost, and specs are meaningless if the pipes are clogged with TP.
I couldn't care less about image of Apple.

I've been a MAC user since 1997. When I started seriously DJing, I couldn't afford a MacBook, but found a good deal on a Vaio. It was $650.00 compared to $2000.00. The experience has been less then wonderful, but after working out the bloat and a bit of tweaking and help from members here, I've got it working well. Reliable, responsive, everything I want VDJ to do. I have no complaints. If I had it to do again, I'd go with a VAIO.

curious to know what makes you feel that way? what makes the performance better? did you have major problems with pc before that you didn't with mac? Like i said i used a friends for a bit to see what they hype is about. macs are ALL built with the same components. yes you will def find some shitty built pc laptops but thats with anything where MANY dif companies are supplying parts. Look at TOYOTA! lol.
as a consumer you need to make intelligent informed purchases. when ever i hear someone bitching about major issues with their laptop i look at the specs. slow processors, not enough ram etc.
me personally i don't like being told what you CAN and CAN'T have in a machine. ALL of my laptops i have bought for djing have been built to MY specs not what a company said i should have. ALL of my towers i built to my specs. again not knocking mac i think they are a decent product just WAY over priced considering they are built all the same. that cuts productions costs WAY down. when they get down to around a g as they should be i'll probably buy one for the hell of it. Until then i'm good with pc.
ALL Apple products are way over priced Iphone, ipod, MAC thats just a fact.

So you haven't actually owned an Intel Mac then...
geposted Tue 27 Apr 10 @ 7:50 am
nope not owned but again i worked with one for a few days djing and i didn't notice any difference in performance over my pc laptop. i wouldn;'t use it for anything else than djing anyway. i have a huge pc for all my editing and studio work and one for internet browsing in there as well as a laptop in living room for couch surfing.
