Topic: Filter Folder for (not) analyzed STEM files

Dear Support,

I would like to make a filter folder that shows me all files who need tobe analyzed for STEMS.
(Like the filter option: isscanned=0)

Is that possible?

This is not currently possible.

Precomputing stems is only advised when your system is not able to compute quickly enough on-the-fly.
Also worth noting that if you precompute every file, you will need a lot of storage capacity to do so. The stems file is 2-3x larger than the original file and you must keep the original file too.

Thanks for the reply, i didn't know STEM needed that much permanent space per (mp3) file.
If you have thousends of music files, you could run out of disk space.

I'm running VDJ on a Intel NUC with an i7 (7567U with no GPU).
An 3:35 min MP3 takes about 10 secs to analyze.

Which is a quite acceptable time IMHO. So you should not pre-compute stems...

This is what I did on my side to achieve this need (filtering on files from my iTunes/Music app folder only):
Precomputed Stems = 0 and File Path contains /users/nicolas/Music/MusicLibrary/

My next step is to find a way to filter tracks based on the stems:
- smart folder containing big vocal tracks
- smart folder containing instrumental-only tracks, ...

Is this a feature now? I think I may have to precompute for stems 2.0.

Seems you are able to do this now very simply

I found this old topic and I have question what I made wrong?

I made No Stems filter, but then I right click 'Save prepared stems' stems file is created (the *.vdjstems-file is shown in windows explorer) but the file is still shown filter folder. This file has right clik menu 'Recompute stems' and other files has right click option 'Save prepared stems'.

I have version v2023 b7482

I have over 25000 files on my external hard drive and it is "impossible" check which files had stems already and which has not.

Sadly the browser doesn't update automatically (IKR?!)... You have to move focus to another playlist and then move back. Hopefully that fixes the issue for you!

I click the another filter and then click back my no stems and it was not updated.

I found also another 'bug'. VirtualDJ can not skip files which have stems (or analysed). It scans all files in directory although there some files has stems (or analysed) already.
