I'm new to Virtual DJ, and I was poking around.
Whatever I did made part of the waveform display empty. No waves are shown. But the sound is played as normal. How can I get back to the normal state so that waves are shown where sound isn't silent?

I can't think of what that could be.
quickest fix would be to rename your settings.xml file and boot vdj up again [so it starts with default settings]
