# Feature Suggestion: Infinite Pitch / Pitch Clutch Mode
Hello VirtualDJ team,
I would like to suggest a feature that could greatly improve beatmatching on controllers with very short pitch faders.
## The problem
Many entry-level and compact DJ controllers have very short pitch sliders. This makes fine tempo adjustments difficult because a very small physical movement can produce a relatively large pitch change.
When using a very small pitch range (for example ±1%) to achieve maximum precision, it is easy to reach the end of the physical slider travel, even though the user would like to continue making small adjustments in the same direction.
## Proposed solution: Pitch Clutch (Infinite Pitch Mode)
Add an optional mode where a user can assign a button or keyboard key as a **Pitch Clutch**.
The workflow would be:
1. Move the pitch slider normally.
2. Hold (or toggle) the assigned Pitch Clutch button.
3. While the button is active, the physical pitch slider is temporarily disconnected from the software. Moving the slider does not change the current pitch value.
4. Reposition the physical slider to any location.
5. Release (or toggle off) the Pitch Clutch button.
6. The slider becomes active again and continues adjusting the pitch relative to the current value instead of jumping to its absolute position.
This works similarly to lifting and repositioning a computer mouse when you run out of desk space.
## Benefits
* Much finer beatmatching on controllers with short pitch faders.
* Allows users to work comfortably with very small pitch ranges such as ±1%.
* No sudden pitch jumps while repositioning the slider.
* Optional feature that does not change the traditional behavior for users who prefer the standard absolute pitch fader.
* Could extend the usability of many compact controllers without requiring new hardware.
