when you record a video set like this do you use the recorder within VDJ or do you output to another recording device?

I use pinnacle video transfer to record... it's perhaps not the best way do it since when recording long mix, it sometimes fails to finalize video to memory stick. It's quite annoying to record for an hour for nothing. But when it works, video & sound quality is pretty good for file size. I'm looking for alternative ways to record though.
