It's quite common around here for people to post messages at the end of really old threads, to ask a totally unrelated question...
Why not have the forum software automatically lock a thread after a period of inactivity?
That way it wouldn't be possible for these people to exhume threads in the first place, which then inevitably leads to a mod locking it.

I would guess this wont happen.
Reason being is the 1st thing that often happens when people start a new thread is they are often told to search for an existing thread first and post there. If the thread is locked then this won't be possible.
I completely agree with the principal but don't see it helping.

Only if the thread is current i.e. the DDJ SX thread. If someone were to post asking for DDJ SX mapping they'd be directed to that thread.
I'm only talking about OLD threads. Threads that have been standing idle for years.
It shouldn't be that hard to have the forum software lock a thread after 6 months or a year of non use.
