Topic: Mapping Questions

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi,

I'm attempting to map my Icon iDJ from scratch, since I only need fairly basic functions and want to learn how to do it, but I have a few questions as to how certain things work and why certain things won't work.

I've attached a picture demonstrating won't work and what will with basically the same format of code, so if anyone could correct me on what I'm doing wrong, or how I could do it better, I'd be indebted to you forever.

i put the functions that don't work in red boxes, and the functions that work in green. The EQ was assigned to a knob, the tempo was attached to the tempo slider, and as for the jogwheel, I'm really not sure the way to assign it to what I need it to do. Basically I want the wheel on the iDJ to act as if i was moving the wheel on the interface to move the track to a different position or scratch (not that I really need to/want to scratch, but thats basically the effect of being able to move the position of the track with the wheel).

So if any coding geniuses could help me, that'd be great :) :)

the knobs send two messages... one in the centre and on CC value for the length of the knob... start turning it with key learn from the left or right

oh thats it! thanks!! does the same go for the jogwheel? and would 'jogwheel' be the right command for what I'm trying to do? (move tracks into position)

also, the iDJ is doing something bizarre when it hits the middle of the crossfader. it jolts the fader to the left rather than sit in the middle, so any crossfade i do has a skip in it where it flicks to the left on its way over. Any idea what that could be? a mapping thing or maybe even a hardware problem?

ok, ive worked out the crossfader. its really just the jogwheel that I need to map at this point. do you know of the best way to do that?

hold your hand on the jog, then press keylearn, move the jog cw or ccw, then map the control that show's up map it as something like:

jog +0.005
jog -0.005

touchwheel +0.005
touchwheel -0.005

touchwheel_touch
etc...

I was never able to get it to work 100% using key learn so I had to make a definition file for it to work properly, and you will probably need to change the amount to get it perfect.

That still seems to only work one way for me for some reason, should there be different mappings for CCW and CW?

Also, what does a definition file change about the way the jogwheel behaves? what goes into creating a definition file for this sort of controller?

If you are using Simple MIDI Wrapper, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Simple%20MIDI%20Wrapper%20Endless%20Encoder%20Knobs%20and%20Jogwheels.html

Preferably for optimal performance and working LED's, you need to make a proper definition and mapper for the controller - See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VDJscript.html

Also, to be able to use MIDI controllers, you will need to purchase the full VirtualDJ Professional. If you like VirtualDJ then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html (Especially if you are working DJ and are making money as a result of using it at your gigs.)
