Hello everyone, this is my first post. To cut a long story short, if I may link the story so far...

Briefly then, I have no sound from my mic which is plugged into a 7.1 ext USB soundcard, I have followed a tutorial as best I can, the pc tells me the mic is working, so does the internet but I have yet to hear a squeak out of it!
So far I have managed to configure the mic so that the orange MIC button appears on the deck, in advsnced settings I've got master and mic set to mono with output 1 on each but still no sound?!

So what am I doing wrong?

First of all, I see no reason why you'd need another audio interface (especially one that only costs £1 - hardly quality!).
Your mic comes with a cable that ends in a mini jack plug. This should plug straight into the mic input on your computer. You don't say which computer you're using, but most have mini jack socket mic inputs. You may then have to enable the mic input (and adjust its volume) via either the OS or the driver/util provided by the manufacturer of whichever audio interface is built in to your computer.
You'll also need to enable the mic as an input from the audio config in VDJ.
BY the way, if you're in the UK you should change your forum details because it looks like you're in the US at the moment.

Oops. I'll change that in profile. The pc is a Zoostorm. It has around four plugin points for the jack at the back, I could try those in turn. I read that the mic might need something called phantom power I think which is why I bought the soundcard. At that time the mic did not respond through those plugin points but that was before I got to know about configuring the mic in VD.

No, don't try the input sockets in turn. Just take a look at them and see which one has a mic symbol next to it.
Or read the manual provided with your PC. Or look it up on Google. If you do so, you'll find that the mic input is usually pink.
If your mic came with a cable that has a mini jack, then it should work fine plugged straight into the PC. You won't need phantom power.
FYI, a USB audio interface costing £1 won't provide phantom power. It's nowhere near professional enough.

Hello again groovindj
Okay so my pc is a Zoostorm E5800. It has 6 ports at the rear and yes, the middle port of the three at the bottom is pink.
Tonight I tried this plugging in and all the time the message "your soundcard may not be connected properly" and so it is like it is expecting me to plug in the external USB soundcard.
I have followed as far as I can make out correctly the instructions from online tutorial on setting up the mic and at one point there was a faint buzzing or crackling through the speakers that sounded like I might be getting somewhere but as nothing worked at all I resorted to trying the external card again and of course, nomicsound snd no sound from the decks either!
So I believe you are right, the microphone will work plugged directly to the pc and is in working order but as yet I have had no success in configuring this set up. I have it as master and mic both mono with primary sound driver and microphone selected set as input 1 and output 1.

Okay so when the mic is plugged in to the pink port it is not recognised in the configuration. Also another tutorial was even more confusing as they were setting up deck 1 with output 3 and 4 then deck 2 with output 5 and 6! In the dropdown list I only have singular choices, output or input 1 to 7 I think it is.

Another thing I have noticed is in MICROPHONE itself in CONFIGURATION where there isthat long grey bar which should contain Primary Sound Driver - in a tutorial it shows a dropdown list where you ought to be able to srlect your microphone - mine is blank, it does not say Primary Sound Driver even.

Well the mic was in the wrong jack port, there is a mauve port next to the speaker port and this is the correct port.
The mic has been tested and configured on the pc and is 'working correctly'.
As per the Virtual DJ settings, this is now set up correctly as per tutorials.
The result is themicis working but all I hear is crackling and buzzing!!!!!
I can't make out my voice at all.

So what should I do now, road-test another mic to know whether the mic I am trying to use has a fault?
