This makes it easier to move to the default gain, and then apply adjustments as needed.

is your zerodb set to -3 .. i bet it is that would be the difference.

personally i use -6 for mine
if you have it set to 0 or default i believe you will get some limiting at some point.

Furthermore, you would typically limit the bass on either of the tracks, so it's very unlikely to have both songs at 0db peak at the same time anyway.

Only drawback is that some venues have low powered systems so the master gain on the mixer needs cranked up.
