Looks like Apple just added a new layer of security with Catalina. How we go through the to update Virtual DJ?
Message from Apple:

Both VirtualDJ and DDJ-SX2 works on Catalina

You need to install the drivers and firmware update https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/pioneer/ddjsx2/installation.html
And by default, macOS blocks drivers, so you need to unblock, see here : https://www.pioneerdj.com/-/media/pioneerdj/downloads/other/troubleshooting/troubleshooting_highsierra_or_later_e.pdf
