Hi all,

I am a big fan of the support here!
I got some quality advice before, even if I am a noob with stupid questions.

I have my headphones that I use for makes calls in work.
They are plantronics, with a mic

I cannot seem to get the sound to the earphones though...
Can someone hekp?

I am using my brand new Windows 10, 6 core, Computer
This is more than enough juice for VDJ, but I am clearly a moron :)

Thanks in advance

Plantronics, OK. Which ones? What connector(s) do they use? Where have you got them plugged in?

What's your VDJ audio config? Post a screengrab.

I am trying it with some Betron Retro headphones (The plantronic were just typical call centre type headphones)
The same problem persists though

I dont see an option to attach a screenshot though

EDIT:
Hopefully this works:

Well that looks to me as if you haven't selected the headphones in any of the output options.

I see USB Soundcard showing (so assume that's the headphones) but both 'master' and 'headphones' outputs are set to Realtek - which is usually the onboard audio.

When you click on the middle dropdown (where it says Realtek blah blah blah) what other choices are there?

Hi mate,

The two options you see on Master and Headphones are the only two options I have.
Nothing else in the list

I have the headphones plugged into the back of the PC.
Nowhere to plug them in on the controller, which I think is a bit odd...

Futhermore.
When I plug in the plantronics headphone, it gives me an option for those.
But still no sound

So they just have a normal stereo mini jack on them?

If they're not USB, what's the USB sound card that's showing in your config?

You didn't mention a controller, which I think is a bit odd...

What controller?

In order for anyone to be able to help, you've got to provide enough information.

Lol, good point.
I forgot to mention the DDJ 200 I have connected to my PC, sorry.

The beatron headphones are mini jack, yes.
The Plantronics headphones are USB, and when I plug those in I get an additional option: https://gyazo.com/9e45956b8e724f0a877107da63c74bb3

I am not sure what the other options are... I assume it's sound cards in my PC???
I am not good with that sort of stuff, sorry.

maybe im worng, but dont you have to have a USB sound card for the Plantronics to work. Just because VDJ says its a usb device, does the plantronics have a built in sound card?

OK I think you need to start by reading the manual for the DDJ-200...

It's primarily designed for use with a mobile phone or tablet, so there's no sound built into it.

There is however a splitter cable supplied in the box, which you're supposed to be using to provide a master/headphones signal.

No idea if they have a sound card to be honest.
They are the DA80 model that I have for work/skype calls

I've looked at the manuals/paperwork that came with the controller and it hasn't enlightened me a bit.

I assumed I would not need an external sound card... I thought my PC would be able to do what's needed?
I mean... there's a sound card built into the PC, right?
And by the looks of those 2 options (excluding the plantronics one), it looks like I have 2 sound cards in my PC?

I see the splitter cable that came with it, yes.
But that's not helping the issue.

I was going to buy that very same Behringer USB Audio interface actually, but I wanted to see if I actually needed it first.
Seems I do??

PS: I really appreciate the help folks.
Sorry for being such a noob

I feel like I'm living a nightmare here...

So I went and looked up Plantronics DA80 myself - and they're not headphones.

The DA80 is a "USB Audio Processor" that the headphones connect to, via a proprietary 4 pin connector. Being as they're call centre headphones, I would imagine that they're mono anyway, so no real use for DJing.

Forget the call centre stuff. Get yourself a normal pair of stereo headphones.

Use the splitter cable that came with the DDJ-200 to separate your cue and master signal, and plug the normal headphones and your speakers into that.

Haha,
If you believe in an afterlife, I'm sure you will be rewarded there for helping me :)

The DA80 is the midpoint between there call centre headphones and my PC.
We can forget those though, ok.
I just leaned towards them in the short term because they seemed to be recognised when I plugged them in.

I have proper headphones, the Betron.
These are not recognised when I plug them into the PC... not even when I use the splitter.

I have however just realised that 1 of the two options that showed up was my speakers, lol

That's normal. The computer is not going to say "oh you just plugged in some Betron headphones".

Plug in the supplied splitter cable first. Make sure you plug it into the PC sound output (usually green) not an input.

Then plug the headphones into the white socket on the splitter, and the speakers into the black socket.

You'll need to set VDJ to give you a split output.

As suggested,
I have plugged the splitter into the green PC sound Output.
I have the headphones in the headphones part, and the mini jack connection of the speaker in the other side of the splitter.

Nothing

You did leave the USB power connector in, for the speakers, right?

So what's your VDJ audio config now? It should be 'speaker+headphone', then 'stereo to mono splitter'.

Below that, your outputs should be 'master' to the built in PC audio card (channel 1 mono), and 'headphones' also to the same card (channel 2 mono).

I don't believe it!!
"Baby... we made it!"

Mate, you are not only a rose in a garden of weeds, but you have the patience of a saint!
I was close to ringing my own neck a few times there... lol

I have sound again, and I can listen the the other deck while the opposite is playing.

Honestly though mate, Thank you very much for the help!
I hope you get paid for doing this!!

Either way, if you ever find yourself in Hertfordshire, England, I owe you a pint... no, a keg!
