I would set the time to 1 second, or less if possible. Ideally 0 seconds --- a cut -- but since Smart Automix often ignores Cut mixes even when no Tempo POIs exist, I think I should just add Tempo POIs --- but set the time to 0 if possible, or 1 second if 0 is not allowed.
In "Options", I typed "tempo" - none of the results were relevant.
Can I set the transition duration for "Tempo" POI?
(Smart Automix frequently fails (I think more than half the time) with both automatically-set POI and manually-set POI.)

Have you tried Automix Editor and adjusting transition between consecutive tracks?
