With these new audio drop changes, I believe this might leave VDJ with an entry issue for new users. I appreciate this is still being worked through but thought I'd share my thoughts
Vdj free.
I feel this will no longer provide a gateway for new users into VDJ due to the audio watermark. I expect people will use/suffer the OSS equivalent, or Serato lite ( despite being very cut down).
This tier is essentially now a controllerless trial, as the audio drop means it can no longer be used for live DJing with a clean audio output. This may have always been the intention, but I suspect this old free offering is the reason for VDJ being the most used and downloaded DJ software on the planet. Several VSTs implement this audio glitch protection for trials, but they are fully functioning aside from this.
Maybe the audio drop could be removed to retain users and keep them on the upgrade path to Pro with other limitations added instead; maybe a forced shutdown ( with warning prompt) after 90 minutes or reducing the feature set further ( no stems or video)? Not being able to use a controller must surely be enough of a paid gig limitation already? Its a tricky call, I appreciate.
VDJ Home
Despite the low monthly fee, people are better off just subscribing to Pro for a month to trial it ( discounted for the first x months maybe), as there is no audio drop. I agree with the other posts on this topic that I can't see people buying this any more. If this is the main focus of the licence abuse, maybe its time to drop this tier and simplify the offering?
VDJ Pro
It looks like the infinity purchase option is less clear now and is no longer mentioned on the price comparison page. I think this lack of clarity may lose customers who don't like subscriptions ( but may be the minority, they are usually the most vocal), not that there are many other options left. That said, this really is an excellent product and well worth the money to buy outright ( or even to subscribe to if you have regular paid DJing gigs).

So, given the problem they are trying to tackle (if you are using it professionally and not a Pro paying member, then you are violating the EULA), what they did for free is understandable. Persons installing free to test out the software, can still try basically all features, but just get a watermark to prevent them from trying to use the software in this state for gain (paid gigs, or even posting mixes on platform could be considered gain). If you could just plug that into a mixer and play, then if you are content with that to make money, you have nothing stopping you from doing that.
How you decide to implement the limitation is up to them, but just as long as the limitation makes the software virtually unusable in a gain/professional sense (which was always what the EULA stated), the goal is achieved (Personally, I think a timed shutdown would be even worse but that's just me).
The Home Plus Legacy is an unfortunate case, because the EULA always stated it can't be used for Professional gigs, and had minor restrictions, but given no watermark and a controller, you could easily ignore the EULA.
They have probably fixed this by allowing existing Home Plus Legacy users to keep using their controller without the watermark addition. Other users have also been in contact with support for a reasonable update path to Pro.
You can always keep using 2025 (no watermark there).
