Topic: VDJ with speakers and amps

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I just bought the Hercules MK2 controller and have it setup with my CPU and monitor directly into an amp.... except my amp (little tiny one lying around) is like 60 watts. lol

so now i have Yamaha S115V Speakers (500 watts continuous, 1000 max)....

and i was wondering what VDJ and my sound card do to the volume of the music outputed... does it get amplified by my system before ever reaching the amp? (which i will replace soon)

cause it's surprisingly loud (far too much i think for 60 watts) right now... but i do need a new amp that actually has some kind of read-outs so i can check for clipping.

and if i'm gonna use these speakers, what's a good sized (in watts i mean) amp to get? any suggestions? im looking for something cheap/mobile/enclosed. no rack amps

The amp is an important link in the chain. You have some nice Yamaha's , match them with a decent amp. It would be wise to invest in a limiter also. It will stop any peaks that could potentially damage your equipment at high levels. Talk to someone locally, a distributer, tech department and get some recommendations.

As for the output, your amp will do the amplification. But it has to start with a decent sound. Make sure your mp3's are at a decent bitrate, make sure that the mp3 gain levels do not clip (mp3gain does a great job at 89db) and if you are forced to eq always cut rather than boost.

Good luck ;)
