Do you find it amusing that MAHI came on this thread entitled "VDJ on XP on MAC BOOK", and hasn't posted a damn thing to help anyone about something he obviously knows nothing about, but he feels compelled to tell me that I'm off topic when all he posted were attacks against me and my pro-Mac stance... on a Mac product inquiry thread?
jchair -
windows and MAHI bashing aside, I hope that the info I did give you helped. I'll try to test the video asap, and yes, I need some videos to test with. That was my next project. I was just looking at some projectors and projection screens at work yesterday, and am probably gonna buy them by the end of the month.
Just out of curiosity jchair, are you a recent switcher, or have you been a Mac user for awhile? If you are a recent switcher, I'm curious as to why you switched.
Please respond and thanks!

Oh, believe me. I will be. ;)
Norway knows already that I started a thread over at MacRumors.com about VDJ 4 for Macs upcoming release. I'll start another one when it is released.

Yeah, I always tell people that [currently] Macs AREN'T for people that like to upgrade components internally, and that if you're a "modder, upgrader, or SERIOUS gamer" then buy a pc.
However, the new professional level "Mac Pro" [that name is speculation only, but VERY likely] upgradeable towers will be introduced by the week of August 7th at the latest. And now with the whole windows capability thing on Mac, I have a feeling that Apple will introduce 1 or 2 consumer level and consumer priced mini-towers. We'll be able to add all the video cards and all that other cool stuff on our Macs now too. Making Mac drivers for that stuff will be easy, and probably done by the manufacturers because they'll want to capture both Mac users, windows users, and Mac users using windows on their Macs for specific reasons [like gaming].
Those Mac Pro's should be the replacements for the current dual and quad core PowerMacs, which are all priced over $2000 and will probably use Intel's new Woodcrest server class chips that were announced last Monday. Intel had originally said that they would be available the first week of August, so apparently Apple aligned it's annual WWDC conferenece which usually takes place in June or July, with Intel's anticipated processor release timeframe. But Intel announced those processors a month and a half earlier [last Monday]. So I'm thinking that if the ONLY thing that Apple was waiting for were the processors and that if there was a re-design of the tower enclosures that has already been completed, the Apple will drop those chips in and get those professional level towers out the door ASAP.
PowerMac sales are DEAD, because everyone is waiting for the Intel towers.
Intel's desktop class "Conroe" chip will be announced on the 27th of this month, almost 2 weeks before Apple's WWDC. Convenient, huh?. Now THAT is the chip that I HOPE, nay, I PRAY, Apple will use in a new consumer class Mac mini-tower [could use the same enclosure as the pro class tower though as well], hopefully with 1 or 2 models in the $1000 -$1500 range.

Hello jchiar & everyone else,
Getting back to the original question, I have used the Virtual DJ 3.4 (demo) on a MacBook Pro (2ghz with 1gb ram and 256mb video ram). Everything works fine except for video output. Its not a VDJ issue but a Mac (steve jobs) issue. I am using the Apple's mini-DVI to S-video adapter, and although it works fine on OS X, for some 'odd' reason it doesn't work in Windows..... probably they same 'odd' reason why the webcam, keyboard light, fan control, speaker/headphone control, power mgmt, and other functions don't work.
So you can use VDJ for audio mixing (with output from BOTH speakers and line-out) but not for video mixing.
BTW, will there be a demo version for VDJ 4.0 for the mac? I really need the video output to work if I am going to purchase the software.
And to add fuel to the fire...... Macs suck!

Really don't give a flying rats behind. You're in the minority, and we're not gonna miss ya.
We don't care to have weak minded people in the Mac community who are "scared" of "becoming" preachy about a much better product. If you're a strong individual, you don't have to be "scared" of being influenced by anything.
Hope you find the strength in your lifetime to "Think Different".

Mac OS X is Unix [FreeBSD]. http://www.apple.com/macosx/overview/advancedtechnology.html
That's why there are so many departments/divisions of international military and government institutions migrating to Mac OS X.
Can't have secure computing environments on an unsecure OS like windows.
You know it's bad when the US Army sends a letter DIRECTLY to bill gates ordering him to cease and desist any further distribution of miCrapsoft's junk software because they know how much it compromises security:

This sucks to hear. Hopefully Conquest can figure out why the videos wont play out the Svideo adapter.
Conquest, check on this since you seem to have much Mac knowledge.
Also, I looking to make the SWITCH as we speak but want to make sure i pick out the right hardware. And it must be able to do video on VDJ.
Believe me, i want to make the SWITCH very badly.
PLease please release VDJ for the MAC asap !!! I want my MAC

If conquest and his mac are so much more productive and intelligent than us winblows users, why did it take four pages to get an answer, and even then it was the originater of this thread that got that answer.
In the 8,288 words you've posted in this thread, not including quoting other people, but including quoting yourself, what is that all about... what have you acheived?

What a lot of hot air and bulldroppings only to find out that it won't work after all.
I reckon I'll be another one who will stick to Windows cos it's cheaper and it works .
There's an old sayng in Sales and Marketing that goes 'Telling isn't Selling.' You haven't got the first idea how to communicate and put your point across in a way that will persuade and have an impact.

"Can't we all just get along" it's not like any of us are getting paid from MS or Apple so why should we fight for either side? there all making money off of us.......so i say to hell with all of them and let VDj make an OS lol.

yeah.. agree totally Philly... I like both mac's and pc's... have both... and respect users of both.. :)
I dont judge djs from having turntable vs cd decks.... And I dont judge anyone by their favorite OS.
But gotta admit I might very well get Mac as my next pc.. But I'm a graphic designer as day job, and have my own reasons for favoring mac for that part...
While I favor the PC for games, internet surfing and chat (msn), and so far for VDJ.. But will for sure check VDJ on mac to see how things are there:)

Like I said a long time ago in another thread. It's a business decision over which machine represents the best value for money.
Apples or Oranges, doesn't matter to me it's a tool to play music

i dont understand religions that go around professing to be the best and trying to convert people, i dont like Chealsea fans trying to tell me they could whup United's ass and why dont i just switch teams, i also dont like mac users spouting their propaganda to anyone that will listen (and quite a few who dont).
so computers crash sometimes, its as much to do with the archetecture of PCs as windows. A well made PC is equaly as likeley to crash as a well made Mac i would be willing to bet. if my girlfriend dumps me do i decide to be gay? my new boyfriend would probably dump me for being so shallow and stupid!

Well.. For anyone interested in a very OBJECTIVE and NON-BIASED compare of MAC OS vs MICROSOFT OS, look here:
http://www.xvsxp.com/sitemap.php
Here at XvsXP, we attempt to answer that exact question through truth and objectivity — things that are all too often lacking in discussions of this nature. We compare Mac OS X and Windows XP on over 100 different topics, including searching, burning CDs and DVDs, playing digital media, installing applications, and more
It gives a good comparison of every aspect at the mac vs pc, all from the installing of the OS, to the use of the OS, compared by 1/10 til 10/10 for each aspect.
Its a very nutral and very informative comparison
TOTAL SCORE (out of 920 points)
Mac OSX : 643
WindowsXP Pro : 642
WindowsXP Home : 616
(that score is adjusted for free updates and applications from the manufactor of the OS - and the fair total compare of all that the OS can offer)
So, its pretty much the same;)
What is NOT counted for is CRASH .. And yeah... Giving the comfirmity of production and design, the MAC does crash less than PCs... at least from my experience...
But the PC has its good sides and the Mac too. Some things work better on a PC, some better on a MAC, but all in all, both are personal computers... And it really doesnt matter much what you get. Both works, both have almost the same product and application range:)
At least thats my opinion... But as said, my next computer will be a mac. Reason; - well it runs both Windows AND MacOs. And gives me benefits for my work (graphic designer).
But whats important to another user will determine his choice (maybe he love games etc). And the bottom line, it does not really matter that much... But the mac sure is sexy looking though ;)
