Topic: iCDX Setup with VDJ - Numark Cue Users Manual

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Just out of curiousity I had a look on the Numark.com site and found the Numark Cue users manual in the support section. In there is a good outline of using the iCDX with Numark Cue (and of course with VDJ).

Interestingly (as I've posted in the Hardware Support Forum), it only describes how to hook up one iCDX to the software. It says that you can control both virtual decks with one iCDX. I wonder if it's necessary to buy two iCDX?

Has anybody done this yet? or does anybody know definitively what the score is with this.

It is the same with XP10. You can use one to control booth decks. You just have to select the active deck. Very easy.

Yeah, it looks very easy. The question is, though, I suppose would you bother to buy two iCDX if one will do the job. Do some people use two XP10s? I've never had one.

I use 2 XP10 :) And i am very happy with them. But it's easier to have left dask at left side of mixer and right at right side. Once i was forced to use only one XP10 and i made few mistakes and stop played song instead of another one :) You have allways look whick deck is activated.

And if you want to play with CDs, you will need 2 of them. The same is with external disks or USB keys.

I am thinking about buying one, and another later. Every DJ work with at least 2 decks. It would be strange to see somebody working with only one, right? ;) But to start is one enough. You can do everything with it. But is't better to have a pair, believe me.

Yeah Xeon.

Thanks for your comments. After 30 years of working with two decks or 2 CD players I would like to buy two and I'm selling some gear on Ebay so I can afford two.. It would look strange to only use 1. :-)

I'm worried, though that it might not be possible to hook up two iCDX because I can't see how they connect. I've been in touch with Numark technical support to ask for the iCDX manual, but they haven't got one yet. I know the guys on the videos look like their using two OK. Just need that reassurance.

Maybe I'll be like you, buy 1 first, then buy the other in a few weeks.

You can connect booth ICDX to usb ports. So each to each usb port and that's all! The only thing that i am missing in VDJ preferences is SWAP button to swap controllers. For XP10 it works great.

It is just like XP10. Each controller to each port and that's it! Not really sure what would happen if you connect 3 of them lol :D

I am getting mine in actually on friday after a month delay! Just quickly, i checked in the remote controller section of the configuration in VDJ, and I see "enable" Icdx. But how does the program know which Icdx controls which deck in the program. In essence, how do i assign my left ICDX to control the left deck and the Right Icdx to control the right deck? Does the program just know based on which USB port the hardware is plugged in to?

lol... i'm wondering the same thing. I take it you may have to play with switching usb cords to get the deck playing on the correct side. Maybe the developers forgot about the swap option?

I just downloaded the manual from numark and I must say the functions you can access from the icdx is pretty hot! the one thing i'm not so sure about is the toggle between scratch mode of the platter.

I would definitely recommend using 2 decks to control vdj even though there is support for using just 1. The support for 1 deck to control both I think should be only used in a case where you are having problems with 1. Otherwise its real gay using just 1, I've tried it with my xp10's and its so easy to make a mistake.

Yes, that was my question too, and the reason I posted the thread. Maybe Norway does know, but I don't feel like buying until I know. They're available next day delivery in the UK at the moment.

I had another reply from Numark technical support who say that the iCDX manual will appear on the Numark site 'soon'. Not sure how quickly soon will be, though.
