Topic: Key detection in future versions of VDJ?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Just as the topic says :) Is there any kind of plan to add key detection to VDJ? Or at least have a field for "Key" that the user can fill in? That would rock.

yes it would

can already add comments tho

Yes, currently I'm using the comments field for this... I have each track labeled by its Camelot notation #, written with a 0 in front for single digits -- so for example, for 4B, I have it written as "04B"... This way I can sort the comments column, and it automatically sorts the tracks by compatible keys... Not a bad system, but it would be nice to leave the "comments" field truly for actual comments... Why not at least have the option to add a "key" column? It would be very helpful... And enabling VDJ to do key detection would be even better! :)

im a musician and have never heard of camelot, what is it?

That'd be cool as heck!

Well, Camelot's just the name of this company that has ripped off the idea of the "circle of fifths" -- you can wikipedia that if you don't know what it is... Here is the Camelot system description:

It's just a way of numbering different keys so it's easy to remember which ones go together... You can tell which ones go together because they are numbered chronologically according to this chart:

It's a decent idea, but a lot of people think learning it this way prevents you from really learning the music theory involved... On the other hand, it's a very simple and convenient way to sort music -- so, would like it incorporated in VDJ if possible :)

And here is the tool that automatically scans your mp3 and add the "Note" either to the id3 tag of your mp3 or just add it after/before the Artist or title in the Mp3 name

Thanx Jason.. Just what I needed...;) cool
