have a trimmed down(XPlite or ...) windows, especially dedicated for vdj(video use),
installed on a usb flash drive(4GB or ...)
boot from there and ...
i know you can boot from those,
but is it actually possible to put a whole system on it and boot ?
i heard new bios' support this
am i wrong ?

this would work
but the usb drive would have to have a massively fast transfer rate or the os would fall over
only the very latest bios will run it

would be better to make a "live" cd, a bootable CD with the Windows on it..
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
But, even that is really being too much hazzle for little.
Why not just make a new partition on the harddrive, and install a clean Windows on one partition.
That way you have a dual boot, where you can choose from your regular app/game mess Windows, and a clean Windows for VDJ.
Thats what I do ;)

your bios would have to support being able to boot from the device. most older systems don't have that option.
