I saw VDJ Demo by a good friend of mine...

OK, I was totally sold on the software...

Where would be a good place to start…???

Download the Demo first and make sure it works on my laptop…???

Thanks

I have an additional question:

I have three laptops and one desktop...

I would like to be able to load this software onto my two newer laptop having 1g ram
and onto my desktop also have 1g ram in my home office to use with clients.
My older laptop i will not be loading anynew.
It work fine and it happy and I'm happy it's happy...
It's a great old backup which has old but tried and true software...

My question is simple really.
If I get the software (CD for $270)
will it be ok to load it up onto those station.
(Main Laptop, newer backup laptop and home office desktop)
Please note that I'm an single op and want to ask up front...

Thanks

Skyfxl are you sure about that. It has always been as many machines as you want. Did they change something?

You are granted one license to:
- install and use the Software on one computer.
- install and use the Software on a second computer, if this computer is normally used by the same person and the Software will not be used on both computers at the same time.

from the licence agreement

I, in no way am trying to start any problems here...
but I been down this road before and just want
to go down the correct path and have no problems...

Not that I ever had any problems in the past with this issue...

Be a Single Op and have a few computer is normal I think...

For gigs:
>>> Main
>>> Backup

For the Office:
For demo only I do use my desktop...

I would be one dang great dj if I could all these computers at once...
But I can't and I don't.

I will download the demo tonight install
(or whatever) on my backup laptop
and see what happens...

LIKES:
>>> Files Structure Support
>>> Not needing to really save cue points
>>> Not needing to load new songs into the data base
>>> Being able to match beat automatically...

I'm sure there are more points but
that is all I can remember that I took notice of...

My current gig software is about 6 years old
but it still does what I want to do without fail...
but again it old and you do need to do a lot of file install and updates...

More of what I found at 11:00
(j/k as soon as I can)

Thanks and be happy with what you got
until you find something truely better...

:)

I think you're gonna find a lot of people here you remember Cad.
Just search PCDJ in any of the forums here and you will see what I mean.
You're also going to find this is an international forum with djs from all walks of dj life, sort of a melting pot.

Only advice is to read the forums extensively to be aware of things that you might run into during your transition.
Print and read through the user guide now located on your system at start programs virtual dj user guide
It will make you familiar with things that you will run into and will save you time finding answers.
You WILL make the transition just like all of those who came before you.
I keep wondering when Scott is going to turn off the lights and load it up.

You will find ease of installation compared to what you are used to and 24-7 support online here, so the comfort zone is always there. We do recommend burning the install file and serial key to a cd for immediate recovery if that becomes necessary.
There are loads of blogs and stickys with information specific to set up and configurations.
So take your time and good luck, most find the learning curve not that bad and are live with it in a week or less.

On a cruise ship once I turned on the club dj onto it and lost my laptop for a week while he dove in and went live within hours using the internal sound card every night.

Welcome aboard and spread the word like a virus.

Rick

Thanks Rick for the nice welcome...

I'm an engineer by day so I know more than most about reading through stuff...

First --- things I found that are cool...
I could check out the config while playing music.
Not something I would normally do but cool never the less...
>>> I didn't like the auto start but found out how to stop in config...
>>> Change the skin to one that works better for me but I know there are more skins out there I could try later which will even better I'm sure...
>>> Love the way the directory works. Just like explorer...!!! Now cool is that (who could of think of that)...
>>> Very easy to hit the count of the beat. Very easy...!!!

Next --- Things I found that are NOT so cool...
>>> Everytime I moved my mouse I was able to hear the music change a little...
>>> Having bad eyes, I need to find a skin which had larger text... (sorry, talk to God about that one)...

More later I need to get to work...

Here what I needed to do to fix most of my small problems...

Did most of the tweaks I felt good about doing...
Those I knew would give me any problems down the road...

Than I asked an old friend from back of the day...
I quickly told me to:

Config... Performances Tab ... Presets to Fastest...
Sound Card = 512
Safe mode and overclock checked...
48kHz (taps) = 11

Then I fix a little problems with a funny sound my changing my Sound Setup to
Ecternal Mixer
Sound card = 4.1 card

I don't know what I did really but it working fine so far tonight

BTW: I have a GigaPort AG Sound Card which I use between my Laptop and Mixer...

Anyway, Thanks to you all for helping me so far...
Things looks like it working fine right now...

Question: (Doesn't this guy ever stop asking question)
Yes I will one day and then I will start answer yours... :)

Is there a way to match beat and key...
I thought I saw my friend doing it this past weekend...

Thanks again....

The sync tab will match the bpm, and the keylock tab will, well, lock the key.

I now know why I missed this answer...

There is information missing in the VDJ manual on page 11...
Point items (9) Pitch contol and (10) Keylock are missing...

*****
Everything is working well now and it only took me a day or so to adjust my Laptop to work well with the software...

There are many things I like about VDJ and those which I don't maybe answered somewhat...
This program is fun to work with and nice to look at...
I sure some of the client WOW factor is back for a while anyway until the next toy comes along.

I like to thanks all of you for your help and support on trying to get your software working correctly on my system...
Even if I'm just doing the demo version. You guy are great...!!!

*****
My next steps, which I'm doing every night, is to play and play with your software
and continue to understand and workout any other issue which I may come up with...
Practice, practice, practice...

One big time save thing I already see is managing my directories...
I don't need to...
(I'm using an old but great dj software, which I can say, I love but it is old and I need to add my music each and every I get something new. I also to need to run the bmp on new songs, which altogether is time consuming.)

I love the burn and play method your software have... :)
