A lot more people are using virtualdj than many of us think too
every computer person near where i live.............. has this program............running mixing at events parties.... etc. street corners........... Christmas... i walked 400 metres and it was safe to say that over 10 persons playing their sounds.... had the virtual software......
Kids at my school keep on installing the program on the machines every chance they get...
so the popularity of it is growing........... only problem is that
all these people .... have either pirated the software... or cracked the demo.................
i am in Jamaica.... a small island.. .and everyone knows the software
only a handful... has ever heard of SSL.. probably only a finger

Guess you havent been to the SSL forum ;)
LOTS of VDJ threads there...
People discuss different solutions, options and choices on all forums, regardless of where...
At least if they have an open mind policy and allows a general topic forum, where "anything" can be discussed.

well lol mention vdj or any non rane product there lol it usualy gets insulted and you get refered to as a homosexualist.

THAT is a bit of an urban legend Sky ;)
Maybe in the past.. VDJ is gaining more and more respect from the die hard SSL users, specially since new default skin, VDJ working with SSL box, and Numark ties...
Lots of VDJ threads, and most are clean and informative...

Norway its ok… we have all figured it out already – you cannot hide it anymore.
We know that “You SECRETLY prefer ssl over vdj”.
Tell us the truth… just man up about it!

lol ;)
nah, I prefer open midi controller support, open soundcard support, WDM support, automatic BPM detection, seamless looping, sampler engine, video suppport, skinning support and lots more..
NONE of which SSL got ...hehe
If you REALLY want my opinion, I think SSL is a cheap looking basic user interface software piece of crap, that lacks so many features its laughable...
But I wont say that out loud ;)

@Rick
Go nuts;) lol
You will get the usual "Real djs dont need those features" reply.. hehe
"We only need vinyl control" ... (and next they ask for new features that VDJ have in a new post..hehe)
And a bit of Mac is better than PC might come too .. ;)
Guess they are a bit similar. Both of then have built brand-loyalty to sillyness, where the fanboys cant even admitt there are flaws with both... mac and ssl.. hehe

For me TCV is one very tasty feature, but it's just part of a set-up, without a midi controller you can only scratch the surface of what's possible (in VDJ). The problem for club DJ's is the lack of space in the booth for both. As has been said before, SSL is only good for the relatively small number of DJ's that scratch, whilst VDJ is designed for every type of DJ. If you don't scratch you don't want turntables, and if you don't want turntables you don't want SSL, if you demand more from a Software solution: VDJ is the daddy.
I just feel that you guys have an advanced arsenal of weaponry and your too often caught surrendering to guys armed only with Pistols because they have the word "Magnum" written on the finish.

lol ;)
when did VDJ surrender to pistol guys? magnum or not...hehe
VDJ last months did all this :
- Joined Numark
- Made new sound engine
- Made new timecode engine
- Made 3rd gen vinyls
- Made Mac version (soon out)
We are building up the arsenal, and no even close to any surrender.. lol
The only good thing about SSL actually, is their branding- and marketing skills.
They have done a great job on promo, image, and positioning.
This is why they are well known, used by lots and respected in USA.
The challenge VDJ and Numark gotta take on ;) And will..
And if I have a say, VDJ too will start working on its branding and image;)

True Tex... The Italians and the DiJ movement have done an awesome job for VDJ in Italy.. including festivals, presence at shows, national dj website, and lots of other promo, making VDJ really strong in Italy..
Thanx to all Italians and specially to the DiJ crews.

yeah vdj is really ill. it gives me completely everything a dj could possibly want... especially a lazy or a beginner dj. u think vdj is used heavily in the US? Try the Caribbean and you'll see where it's really used

i am curious on someting tho.. . what is the best asio sound card to use with vdj(maya 44 is discontinued). and i if i do connect my two turntables, does this mean my keyboard shortcuts like "go to cue" will be overridden? and is there a special type of turntable to use?

I have a record line out on my $200.00 Vestax mixer.
Those little Youtube vids I made with that mixer and another pc recording the record out mix with a soundblaster line in.
pretty cheap-assed I thought but it makes decent sound quality.

get a recorder, gemini have a little recorder that takes a line out, just use the record out on the decks.
or you can buy yourself a grands worth of mixer than has enough CHs and routing to allow you to record the master A/B back into a standard windows recording program
