Ok, I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a decent machine, please see the specs:

Specifications:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2MB cache, non-HT)

Here in lies the question. If I have all the settings on best quality but set the latency below 2048 I hear pops and crackles (ever so lightly) whenerver i use the mouse to scratch the turntables. If I set it at 1024 but still not so bad, they are more noticable and at 512, well- it is just down right annoying. The interesting thing is that these noises do not record...thank god.

There are NO IRQ comflicts. Suggestions? I guess given the system, I feel that i should at least be able to set latency at 512? Or am I deluded? I have safe mode and over drive off too, using them makes matters worse.

Any ideas?

i think your straining your card by having it on highest and trying to set a low latency

So, keeping it at 2048 is not unreasonable given the settings and system?

BTW VirtualDJ is VERY stable in Vista.
