What's up Guys !!

I work at a club in Wisconsin and the owner just purchased a brand new Mac Pro and Numark Cue with Virtual VInyl.

I'm about to start importing and converting all of our DVD's.

I have about 1000 songs to import and have a 750 gig hard drive. I'm wondering what the best file type is in regards to playback quality. (sound and video)

Thanks !

VOB's? You really think so? ..... I have 681 gigs of HD space on my Mac Pro. Today is the first day i'm playing with Cue... and im running into problems... i thought i'd try to convert to Mpeg 1 because the VOB's i'm playing look horrible... the playback is nasty with large blocks coming in and out and flickering.... (I've been reading all over the forrum but it seems like this is still an open ended issue... is there a fix to this?) I'll hold off on importing my 40 + Promo Only DVD's until someone can help me decide.

I've encountered randow unexpected quits.... once when experimenting with the effects and once while scratching with the mouse.... i probably won't be doing this at all in the club but it's really scaring me.

I plan to use 2 pioneer CDJ's with Virtual Vinyl with aRane Mixer.

I would stick with vobs too as suggested. Divx files are smaller but the quality is not as good as h264. However h264 video codecs are not working properly. I personally use a TB drive with the videos in VOBs.

When h264 works well, that when ill convert..

Does anyone know a video format that works? At this point im not really concerned with HD space... I feel ive just speant $500 on a product that DOES NOT WORK.... I'm looking for a solution to the flickering and artifacts.

VOB has traditionally been the best and most widely used format for mixing videos with Virtual DJ. Nearly all VDJ video mixers use VOB format, since they can rip directly from DVD in VOB format without the quality being degraded by encoding to another format.

However, in my experience with testing both the release version of VDJ on the MAC and the beta versions, I've experienced blocky artifacts and other video degradation.

Some users however, have reported FLAWLESS video mixing on the mac version so I've been waiting for enough people to post their experiences, setting, etc. I'd like to get my setup working with flawless video mixing on the mac like their setup too.

I NEED it to be flawless... we didn't spend this much money on numark cue to NOT have it work.

The Mac Version on Virtual Vinyl / Virtual DJ is still has lots of bugs. If you need to use it right away its probably best to use the PC version as it works flawless.

I have been waiting for the Mac version for sometime now and when they finally released it I was disappointed in the amount of problems and lack of support for external devices.

You should be able to get a PC version or numark cue. The pc version runs great in bootcamp the only problem with bootcamp is you can't output video via S-Video or Composite video so you need to use a scan converter to convert the DVI output into a S-Video or Composite video source. This is a problem with the bootcamp video drivers.

what is a scan converter... i'll be using a Mac Pro and it has a single and double dvi output.

do you mean i can get virtual dj for PC? or can i only get numark cue for PC?

A scan converter takes one signal and converts it into another signal such as a s-video or composite video source.

Numark Cue and VDJ are the same program and since you purchased the numark branded version that is the only version you can get bit it is the same thing anyways just a different skin and lack of timecode support.
