i've read the instructions and information you and the guys have shared, i do not use a router, the only things i use externally are a usb hub and a usb modem, i opened the ports you told me about and still no joy though

welcome to my nightmares then i am aslo aol uk

you may need to call aol to request these ports to be unblocked 8000 and 8001

what firewalls do you use

geposted Tue 29 May 07 @ 1:09 pm
the windows firewall that came with the pc and i also use norton
i have "unblocked" the ports as far as i am aware cos it asked which ones to unblock and i put in 800 8001 like you said before, still no joy though, i'll ask AOL what they reckon
:)

i have just spoken with AOL, they said as long as i am using a modem i do not need to unblock ports :S

turn off the windows firewall

does it work now?

what encoder are you using?

geposted Tue 29 May 07 @ 1:54 pm
C:\PROGRA~1\VIRTUA~1\lame_enc.dll
that's the encoder
i'll turn the firewall off and see whether that works, i don't like doing that though cos some nuttah could get on my computer and mess it all up

try forcing windows media to connect

open Windows Media Player, select Open URL

type : http://yourip:8000/virtualdj.mp3

another player which is better is video lan

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

its designed to listen to streams

if this fails

try streaming to an external server such as listen 2 my radio

geposted Tue 29 May 07 @ 8:31 pm
i'll get him to try that
;)

geposted Tue 29 May 07 @ 8:37 pm
my mate got this message....
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct

login to listen to my radio

press install

then choose a name

and password

wait 30 minutes then like magic on the config tab of the website

all that info is there

just copy and paste

to vdj

then on the website turn the server on your good to go
