got an old hercules mk1 - all i need now is to cue using headphones - whats an easy cheap viable option - i'm new to computers !

You should be able to cue through the Hercules. The front headphone jack.
Just make sure you choose the console in the soundcard setup.
Be aware, you won't be able to use an external mixer like normal in this configuration.
