Topic: COMES UP SHORT

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Okay it has been about 2 months since I have had this problem and still nobody can seem to figure it out. I load a .mp3 song into the play deck and the song COMES UP SHORT.

Instead of a 4 Minute 30 second song being that length, it comes up as a playing time of 3 minutes 15 seconds in length. The last 1 minute and 15 seconds gets cut off.

Now first it was asked " Is the Maxamium Load set to ALWAYS? "

Yes....

Second " Do you have a gig of DDR2 RAM?"

Yes.... 2 Gigs or DDR2

Third " Have you tried by making a full reinstall, cause sometimes if windows detects log errors and they are kept in windows registry - so uninstall the program completely and delete vdj registry "

Yes.... Brand new operating system installation.

Fourth " Does this happen with the new Virtual DJ 4? "

Yes.... I installed the newest demo version and still continues.

Five " Does any other type of music do the same thing? COME UP SHORT."

No.... If I play a .wav file the entire song loads up perefectly. Anything other then the .wav file type COMES UP SHORT - .MP3 .WMA ANYTHING

Six " Have you contacted a teamleader in regards to this? "

Yes.... Last week ( 7 days ago ) And up till now they have done absolutley nothing to help me out. Have not even wrote me an e-mail saying that at least they are trying to figure it out.

Seven " Could it be a software issue? Is it conflicting with maybe an anti-virus or something? "

No.... I put a fresh copy of a new operating system, installed the drivers and only Virtual DJ. The problem is there.

Eight " Are you using Windows or Vista? "

I have tried with both. I went a bought a brand new laptop because one of the teamleaders 2 months ago said that I needed 1 gig of DDR2 RAM to run this software. Well all I had was my laptop that 2 GIGS of DDR. So based on this guys opinion I got a new laptop and the problem still haunts me.

Nine " How many computers are you having this problem with? "

3 - Laptop with 2 GIGS DDR, Laptop with 2 GIGS DDR2 and Desktop 3 GIGS DDR. I have installed XP Pro ( Origally and ligit version ) on all 3, along with Vista on all 3. The problem still arises.

Ten " Do you have this problem with any other software? "

No.... IIt was sugested to try in on Traktor and Deckadance, and everything is perfect. The only problem with Deckadance was when I spin the knob back, instead of the music spinning backwards. It only slows it down. If I could master that issue. I would so leave this Virtual DJ software alone.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem that I have had for the past 2 months , please fell free to help me out. If you know how to fix the deckadance problem, fell free to help me out.

If not I think I need a new Virtual DJ CD or something, because it makes no sense that this can happen of 3 computers with 2 diffrent operating systems.

Thanks.

Kory ( DJ FETE )

AN ADDED NOTE:
--------------------

If I load up a video, the entire video is played and there is no cut off at the end. Again it is only with .MP3's.

Are your mp3's VBR or CBR. If my memory serves me well, I remember reading that some VBR mp3's were showing wrong lengths in VDJ. If they are VBR, please do a search in the General Forum for more info related to this issue.

DJ Nyiko - You are the best. It only took me 2 months to figure this problem out, Thanks to you.

I download VBRFIX and it has correct the problem.

Where were your 2 months ago family?

Thanks again..

Kory

It would have been beneficial for you if you had followed my suggestion in my second to last post in your original thread here (these files are cbr, i.e. vbrfix isn't needed and would have helped diagnose the problem very quickly):
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/74095/Hardware_Technical_Support/Memory.html?page=1

You also stated that wma files give you the same problem? I'm not sure if vbrfix did correct your problem, or whether the change of filesize it would have created caused your database to not recognise the file and reanalyse it.

Yes maybe,

but atleast instead of stating what the problem MIGHT be. He actually gave me a referance to use in order to fix it. How you gonna tell someone what a problem is and not how to fix it. I am sorry but not everyone is as " computer enhanced " as you. Would have been good if you would have given me some form of direction as to how to fix the problem. You see all it took was a little statement like

" refer to the genral topics area and search for VBR " and that should help you out. And not just it sounds like it could be a VBR issue.

Needles to say, why are we discussing this anyways? If it is praise you want, sure here you go.

" Thanx for the little bit of help you gave me. With your help I had a very small idea as to what the problem MIGHT have been, did not know what it was or how to fix it. But yes you figured it MIGHT BE a VBR issue.

CONGRATS.... too you...

And VBRFIX did fix the problem, and this disscussion is DONE!!!!

Again Thanx.. DJ Nyiko

My point was to try the cbr files on that website. If you had done so, you would have been able to report that those files work correctly. If you had done that it would have been completely clear that the problems you were experiencing were to do with the files which you are using; such a process eliminates the requirement for guess work.

To quote myself from the other thread:
Quote :
I did a quick google search for free music, I assume these are being distributed legally:
http://www.zonicweb.net/music/freemusicdownloads/freemusicdownloads.htm

If you try downloading one wma file and one mp3 file from there, do you get the problem with both files?

Those are quite clear instructions I believe. Anyway like you said, problem solved - or is it? You stated wma files didn't work properly either. Vbrfix will do nothing for wma files.
