Topic: Quick question on dj travel..

Has anyone here taken their dj gear abroad on a plane before?., I'm leaving tommorow but i'm just worried a little because people keep telling me that my mixer wont get through customs...

Has anybody expirienced any difficulty in this situation before?...

get your gear packed in custom-made flightcases if you worry that much ;)
i think the most vulnerble part is your harddrive(s). make sure you pack them in soft-rubber pads or something to make it more shock-tolerant.

were are you going anywayz?

i fly with my equipment since 15 years to india thailand .....and more.till now no problem.

I just got back from a successful gig in San Francisco, and I had no problems with airport security at all. One thing: Pack your laptop in a separate bag, and make it a carryon. I don't care how well-padded you think your flight case is, trust me on this one. I've seen ground crew just drop boxes right on the tarmac. Plus, you'll be able to prepare your set on the flight if you need to. Also, pick a laptop case where you can pull your computer out quickly. TSA will ask you to run your laptop through the X-ray separately from the rest of your luggage.
