Tech,
Thats great to hear. I was wondering what happened because you never posted again. I've never used TCV but I'm really digging my Denon CD set up. With all of the functions on the cd decks(minus alpha track) working combined with everything offered by VDJ it is a powerful combination. Luckily I havent had a crash happen to me yet either, even when backspinning and scratching heavily.
I've only had my Denons a couple of weeks longer then you but if you have anymore questions just let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

I am not able to get the hot start, or cue functions to work...do you have to configure anything on the decks??? or...none of that works

did you burn your CD as a wav or mp3 file? I had a problem with my cues not working right when I burned the file as an mp3. All of my loops, cues, search, platter, scratch, effects and the alpha track feature would work if you wanted to use it to play a second track nd hooked it up but it can't be used for sampling.

No i did not burn as mp3- i burned it in media player, and media player converted it. I"ll play around with that and see. Thanks again

Hey guys......I know I dont have the professional version.....I am trying to get some money so I can buy both that and a better setup.........so please dont only tell me to get the real version and not listen to what I have to say.

That being said, Once I can get some funds together I am debating wether to get some cd players like the denons or the xp10s....You guys all seem to be pretty pleased with the denons but the setup process and fixing all the bugs seems like a bitch. Ive also heard problems with the xp10s and bugs but I guess some bugs are to be expected. The thing that is nice about the denons is that I could used them without vdj if needed......Has anyone used both some sort of active platter/ scratchable cd player and the xp10's? How do they compare to eachother? Also the pricing of the xp10s seems to be cheaper than the denons but in the long run are the denons better? Also how do tccd's work? Could someone explan or point me to another thread that does explain how to set these up and how they work? Any insight into the differences/ beniefits of using either a cd player or the xp10s would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have 2 XP10s and I love them. If you do a lot of scratching then I would probably recommend TCV or TCCD, probably leaning towards TCCD simply because I can use them as CD players at a gig if my computer stops working. Turntables would quickly turn into paperweights for me, since I have no vinyl records.

From page 1: "Honest Opinion... if you want a compact setup that has the flexibilty to go without VDJ(for whatever reason) then this is it. If you don't ever intend to use this without VDJ then buy the XP10's or TCV. Since my job takes me away from home for months on end I needed a system that was portable and extremely flexible if something happened to either my laptop(VDJ) or one of the decks. With this set up (each 5000 can play 2 tracks and you can mix them as if they were seperate decks)I can just reconfigure around the casualty and still have music until I get back home to fix it."

Keep in mind that I have never used XP10's and this opinion is based solely on a configuration perspective.

The time code is basically a timing signal that is decoded by VDJ to know how fast the vinyl (or CD) is spinning and its relative motion (forward or reverse). By looking at this signal the program knows how fast the turntable is spinning and which direction and adjusts the song to match accordingly by syncing it to that signal from the turntables.

Hope that helps you understand a little better...

Paisan,

I have been reading this whole thread and since I am thinking about getting some denon 3000's to use with and without vdj I thought you could give me some insight.....first of all where do u get tccd's from? It seems like you have had some trouble setting everything up to work with VDJ....is it a real hassle to set up the denons with the computer or can everything be figured out pretty easily? The 5000's look pretty nice and u seem to like them alot but they are a little bit out of my price range so i think im gonna try to go for the 3000s once i can save up a little bit more.....do u know if the 3000s can detect the bpm of a song without vdj?

Thanks for your help in advance

Benjwah,

Technical DJ would be a better person to ask about the features on the Denon 3000's. He encountered the same exact problems I did when setting his up, but he had his up and running fairly quickly. Alot quicker then it took me.

The major problem for me was that most of the time code users are TCV not TCCD users, and the few TCCD users were European so finding someone who was familiar with CD took awhile and the time difference didn't help any. Now that Technical DJ, CSTOLL and myself are set up in the US there should be someone who can help with TCCD checking the forums 24/7.

Hope this answers your questions.

Thanks Paisan,

Technical DJ......How do you like your 3000's? I should be getting some within the next couple months and I cant wait.....Was it real hard to setup with the tccd's or is it pretty managible? How do you like them without VDJ? Also do any features not work while using tccd's? Lastly, do they have an automatic bpm while not using vdj?

Thanks,

Benjwah

The 3000s are absolutely awesome. The reason I got these instead of the 5000s is because I just couldn't ever seeing myself using the extra features the 5000s offer. Setting up is not hard at all- very easy if you just take your time and do/connect everything correctly. I use the Denons with VDJ TCCDs in a professional environment at the club- that should say how much i like them with VDJ. Pretty much all the features work except for next track...which you wouldn't really use anyway. They do NOT have a auto bpm while not using VDJ. I'm glad they didn't include this also, because I hear the 5000s BPM counter is really inaccurate, and the 3000s would probably have the same counter...so i would rather just not have it then a have a shitty one.

Technical DJ,

I'm thinking about buying the 19" rack mount Denon 6000. I have a few questions for you since you have the Denon 3000 and seem to like them very much.

Do you still have to load the MP3 through your keyboard/mouse for each deck?

How is the scratching (Any lag)?

Can you get to your cue points with the Denon 3000 or do you still use your keyboard?.

I keep going back and forth between the XP10's and TCCD's.

I want to make sure I can use most of the features of the Denon 6000 with Virtual DJ.

Thanks
