Topic: Pioneer Rekordbox to become "proper" DJ software ...... - Page: 3

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

Keith I honesty believe that the skill to create fx's just isn't here at VDJ. When was the last time they released anything innovative when it comes to djing???

The skills just ain't here.

And Groovin I'll spare you the time, "but you can use vst's!!"........

We offer a full SDK you could always give it a try.

I said this back in 2008 and it still stands true. Customers should not be developing effects for VDJ.

I know it has been Atomix business model since day one but I don't agree with it. They should be part of the core program.

For some reason Atomix think everyone has the time or skill to develop skins, effects, tools etc. but that's not true for 99.999% of the user base. The contributions from the community have been on the wane for some time now and that tells it's own story.

Reading posts from you two I can't imagine a reason why the community might be in decline.

Darn Huey, it's all our fault. Might have guessed as much.

I don't expect to spend $300 on software then have to code plugins that every other software provides as part of the package.

That's like spending $50,000 on a car then having to carve the steering wheel from a tree trunk yourself.

Samples and visuals is 1 thing but full on fx's is a whole nother ball game.

Script is only gonna hold this program up for so long, after that what's left?? What makes VDJ so much better then the rest??

I give up, tired of always being told it's my fault or my machines ain't up to par. Maybe I should just settle for being mediocre like so many others here have??

They (VDJ developers) have a programmer mentality. If they listened to us DJs that go out and do parties every week/weekend, then they would earn the respect that other software have.

I know this may be what they don't want to hear but it is the truth.

VDJ is great. It does a lot more than others. It also lacks in many ways that other software have accomplished and done right. Rekordbox did a great job with effects and customizing pads etc. etc. But RB lacks in crossfading a playlist or even shifting an entire loop (loop shift can be done but it is not done right).

VDJ developers, please listen to us.

What about those of us who are both?

But do you also use other software to see how it compares to VDJ?

In the hour I spent with Rekordbox I could easily see how much better the FX are.

If Atomix actually listened to Huey and Locodog (and Synthetic although he has disappeared now being staff) they would be getting very good advice for free.

Of course, and there are improvements that can and will be made. But on the flip side I can also do things with the effects system in VDJ that I can't even come close to in any other software.

Add me to that list please. I gave up at one point. I am more than willing to put my 2 cents in.

Yes, I have. Serato. Traktor. RB 4... and the fx in RB4 are great and how they implemented with the pads.

We have a wishes & new features forum that is actively monitored where you can make requests. My advice if you're going to make a request is to be specific - don't ask for 'more' effects, 'better' effects, or for feature X to be more like a competitor.

People may not think the dev team reads that forum, but I know I do daily.

I've made suggestions on that forum... on chat... few threads... and I get the why would you want that attitude. So I stopped.

I just had a quick look for v8 related requests in that forum from you and found one (the shortcut one) - I recently added this functionality for the sidelist, so could add it for those too. The drag and drop suggestion that was provided works, but I could add a context menu entry too :)

I didn't see anyone saying anything negative in that thread though, it looked to me like the users posting were just trying to understand.

If I'm questioning someone about their request it's usually because I want to try and understand exactly what they are asking, if it's possible and if it's a feasible suggestion :)

I don't want this thread to go off topic but I asked for Automix to be turned off when a track is loaded in that deck being used for automix. It was a feature in 7 and wanted it back. I got the why would you want that? Or I don't understand why you would want it to do that.

Also for shortcut lists to have the automix option.

Effects are a little trivial (in VDJ8 I can remix a song live using just the sampler, and hot cues).
Also they are better relegated to a dedicated quality professional mixer.
This is the top professional choice.
What is the point of inflicting multiple effects on the limited resources of your consumer grade laptops?
A crash?

Who's using "consumer grade machines" here?? And what about the guys using "professional" controllers?? Guess they should switch up their whole game plan because Ron says so....... You don't know our work flow or how we mix!! What works for you probably doesn't work for me or a bunch of other people!! Everyone has their own style........

Know your facts before you start poppin off at the mouth Ron........ Geez give it a break already, you don't work for Atomix nore are they going to hire you no matter how much you try and suck up!!

If I want specialised effects I'll use a dedicated effects unit and my mixer send and return lines.
This is an established professional method.

..this has got me thinking.
