Leneer, in your playlist, this one (Colored Steam) is apparently not compatible with Virtual DJ.

This one https://www.shadertoy.com/view/Mld3Rn | view on shadertoy | copy link is really pin sharp on the Shadertoy site, but pixelated and blocky in VDJ. Anyone know why?

Another with problems in VDJ - https://www.shadertoy.com/view/Xsdczr | view on shadertoy | copy link runs fine on the site, but in VDJ gives a large black rectangle with the effect only at the edges.

Sorry, I just saw your problem, about the problem of not being able to use the shader,There are some incompatible shaders that are really beautiful, so I collected them, hopefully one day it will be compatible,so the VirtualDJ tip/prompt is not compatible.
Some may be due to the performance of the graphics card and software version, but most shaders should be available,I added a lot of new shaders again,I hope you like it:)
I also look forward to sharing your collection of colorers with us.hahaha...

A VIRTUAL DJ page?....Thank You Sir

This runs perfectly on my machine and is razor sharp in both 32 and 64bit versions https://www.shadertoy.com/view/Mld3Rn | view on shadertoy | copy link

Just to clarify, the link is not any official Shadertoy page/playlist, but a personal one of our Chinese friend Leneer.

Big thanks for the new ones posted today Leneer, they are great!!

Shaders Has Been Updated.

So I got a kinda in depth question now. I personally love the shaders and everything about them but what I am curious about is a better method of triggering different ones.

So is there a way either through custom buttons or midi mapping in which you can click to switch from a current shader to one mapped to your custom button or midi button?

I have done a-lot with midi mapping before but for this "project" I haven't had much luck,

Thoughts?

I'm liking this recent entry

So this one I really liked the look of but it had mouse controlled camera angle so it didn't work in vdj, so in the spirit of

I kept hacking at it till it worked https://www.shadertoy.com/view/wdjGzd | view on shadertoy | copy link

@locodog You Da Man!, the funny thing though, before the latest build it worked fine as did a few others. The new build renders them either wrong or just black. Now I think about I wish I'd raised the issue before I deleted them all. But big up locodog for getting it to work.

Good one Loco :)

Liking this one, of all the raymarching examples I've seen the gpu load is light. https://www.shadertoy.com/view/4tXBWM | view on shadertoy | copy link

Then there's this one, I like the flare as is but also it's pretty easy to figure stuff out even though I have no idea how really it works
not sure why this isn't showing here but it works in v8 https://www.shadertoy.com/view/4dBXzK | view on shadertoy | copy link

Post here about your favorite shaders from https://www.shadertoy.com/ to use with VirtualDJ 2018.
We'll repost the best ones on the official post here

whenever I use shaders I notice a definite lag in the graphic display and load times.
I also encounter a slow in system response while using Shaders with an Video Song on the other deck.

VDJ 8 : MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) : 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 ; 10 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 : 500GB HDD (internal)

Are there any other settings I need to change to correct this? or is this a problem with the Shaders.

thanks.
Eric

Depending on what shader, they do demand a bit of graphic powers.
Your macbook is from 2012, without a "dedicated" graphic card as far as I remember (Intel built-in low end card), and might "lag" a little with the more advanced shaders , and perhaps even more so when you are also video mixing at same time (as you say)

Unfortunately Apple didnt include a settings panel for the Intel card (as you find on Windows, where you can set it to high performance), but you can try disable the setting that throttle graphic settings lower, see here : https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202043
"If you want to use the higher-performance graphics processor at all times, choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Energy Saver. Then deselect the automatic graphics switching checkbox."

Might help a little :)

To give you some ideas: Shader "Tokyo" + Video Sampler

Couple of shader errors, https://www.shadertoy.com/view/XddXzr | view on shadertoy | copy link
this one is ok on x64 but on x86 it is just a purple blur
https://www.shadertoy.com/view/4ljGD1 | view on shadertoy | copy link
this one is fine on x86 but looks wrong on x64 (like it's not dealing with the sound input correctly)

This one compiles with x86 but not with x64
Tested with early build VDJ 8.3-64 b5186 It compiles OK now
