I have VDJ installed in two different laptops. One an HP and the other a Dell but both similar in specs. On my HP the KJ files do not play on the screen (It just stays black). The audio plays fine.
On the Dell, KJ works fine. When playing videos though, the satllite transition effect does not work on the extended monitor. On both machines when playing videos it seems to stall out a bit. On rare occasions video transitions are smooth. When comparing both computers configurations in VDJ they are the same. As far as the computers configurations they are the same also, as far as I can tell. As far as computers go, I know the basics. Could anybody help me out here?

I had a similar issue when I first installed VDJ. Sometimes the transitions would be jittery. I doubled up the ram and it seems to have stopped. Everyonce in a while it will do it on the windows transition also for some reason. When I went to 1 gig of ram most of the problems went away. Does video play ok on the HP? I know the karaoke does not.

The HP does not have the problem with the satellite transition, but still stalls out. Overall probably performs better though. The RAM on both are 512 MB. I was looking at the properties of the Video Card and it says Memory Size: 64 MB, that is the HP and running a RADEON IGP 345M. The Dell is running a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 and says Memory Size: 32 MB. My guess is that the RAM should be upgraded just for overall performance. What about these Video Cards I have. Are they sufficient? Still dont understand why the KJ works in one and not the other and also the one transition effect.

I would say that your ram and video memory are on the light side. You may also get a freeze if you start the transition, before you start the other video. In other words, both videos should be playing before you start the transition. Once you start the other video, the freeze will go away.

Get Mac ;) Just kiddig... hehe
Just wonder if you have enabled hardware acceleration in both directx settings, and inside VDJ for video.
Its needed for transition effects to work fully...

In VDJ, hardware acceleration is on. I do not know how to access the other. Where do I go to check to see if it is? In VDJ's Config settings on the video tab, under video output, there is a tv output and the drop down list gives me two choices (widow) and RADEON IGP 345M. Which of these should be selected? Also, what should be selected in the options section? Thanks

OK, under RADEON IGP 345M properties Hardware acceleration is set to Full.

After a little more research I have found that my laptops are most likely inadequate to run this system (VDJ as far as the video department goes). The most I could upgrade the video card in my Dell is to 64MB. The harddrive is running 5400RPM. Which that aint a big deal since my externals are running 7200RPM. I can upgrade the memory itself but I dont think it would matter due to the video card. I havent really checked out what I can do with the HP yet. I might be able to tweak it out, but not sure.
I have a desktop that is more than capable of running VDJ for video, but not to crazy about carrying a desktop around. I will be upgrading to a newer laptop, but that is a little ways away. Does anybody have any ideas on some of the other issues mentioned?

64mb really isn't alot as far as video memory is concerned more than likely the issues u are having are due to the low video and system memory not the hd speed..however the cdg's showing on one not the other shouldnt be happening....try extracting the .zip karaoke file and see if it works that way

Norway, I know where you live.

They are the same kj files that I have on an external harddrive. Works in one and not the other.

OK, I am upgrading to 1gb ram in the HP. Should have that in a couple days. I think I will just forget about the Dell for now. I still need help with my KJ files not playing in VDJ. The same KJ files will play in other programs on the HP. As I said the screen stays black and audio plays fine when attempting to play in VDJ. The same KJ files work in VDJ on the Dell. I need some help here.

did u already try extracting the files and seeing if they work....i know they already work on one laptop but just in case.

All my mp3g files are already extracted. In the record case there are two files for each song. I still cant figure it out.

if u have the ati catylyst installed ..try uninstalling it and just installing the cards drivers not the ati software
geposted Wed 12 Jul 06 @ 2:08 am
I dont think I have that. ATI catylyst does not sound familiar to me. What is it and where would I find it?
geposted Wed 12 Jul 06 @ 2:11 am
if it's an ati card it would have a little icon next to the clock on windows. for some reason there software caused alot of errors with anything to do with videos. when i uninstalled it and just left the drivers everything was fine..videos are showing fine right?
geposted Wed 12 Jul 06 @ 2:14 am
Yeah, there is no ati onboard. Yes, videos are playing fine. I did notice that when I start VDJ or close it down the whole screen blinks out for a second. My Dell does not do this.

Hey philly, after further research I have discovered ATI RS200M under Chip Type: in the video card properties under Adapter Type. I see know signs of this anywhere else though.

I did find ATI Control Panel in Add or Remove Programs. Also ATI Display Driver. I dont know if I feel comfortable removing this or not.
