When I scan a track with the latest 4.3, I'm not getting BPM and gain information... this never used to be a problem. Anyone else noticed this?

To clarify, the problem seems to occurr sporadically when I scan the file prior to loading it in a deck. After that, I'm not sure how to reset it so that it can get scanned properly... this sucks. It's like going back to the oldskool CD players without BPM, and it takes me longer to mix, plus I have to adjust the gain and such.

have you scaned these tracks prior to playing ?

I had this problem with V4.2, but it tended to be when I was playing music on one of the decks when I was scanning tracks.

sky,
Do you know why when I scan a group of tracks that it always leaves out a small percentage of them that have to be rescanned. Example. Highlighting 12 tracks , hit scan all show up with correct bpm and min.
recurse folder, clikk bpm, go down to bottom and see about 4 of those 12 bpm-less, rescan those 4, then go thru above procedure, and see 1 bpm-less, rescan that one.. See it took three tries to get em all. happens everytime with three different machines.

Bryant, is that just with 4.3?

I don't really remember having this problem before.... except on very rare occasions, and I just thought it was because of something funny with the song, but now it happens all the time, and rescanning doesn't fix it either. Hrm...
It wasn't until this started happening that I realized how dependent I was on this feature! man...

But yeah, this was when I scanned the file (manually, out of the database), and at the same time I was DJing, playing a track in another deck.

hi guys

think i may have the same problem as you lot, probably just me but can you tell me what i'm doing wrong, analised database for first time last night on new lappy round about 8000 tunes & vids most showed bpm & length coloums filled in (not all with the correct bpm lots way out) anyway others showed only bpm or only length or none at all, have spent six hours today rescanning suspect files every so often closing vdj then reopening it as i read somewhere this is the correct proceedure when saving files but when reopening vdj not all of the re-scanned files have been saved what am i doing wrong or should i be rebooting the laptop after closing vdj would appreciate your help please as i'm coming close to end of the current rescan thanks....Tayla

ps. doing this while nothing loaded in deck 1 or 2

Tayla,

So you mean you scanned the files, but the bpms and lengths didn't show up, but then you re-started your computer and they appeared when you re-opened VDJ?

yes & no (remember this is a new lappy, first install and using 4.3 no songs loaded analyse-all music)

as above did initial scan overnight about half did show bpm & length others only showed bpm or length or did'nt show any information at all. rebooted lappy and started process all over again after scanning so many files stopped scanning closed vdj and started scanning again did this throughout yesterday, finally got through all the files about 9.30pm last night rebooted lappy and all files were present except one which to me is now honky dory, please don't say it would have been quicker if i had proceeded some otherway lol don't forget us newbies are on a sharp learning curve and need all the help we can get even if it may seem trivial to you more experienced VDJs as you can imagine confidence in ones own ability starts off extremely low but i got a say i luv this programme to bits, finding new buttons to play with all the time in pluggin section & skins etc i'm having a ball lol. just wished there was a more detailed manual to help us thicko's along done in thicko speak lol it would help me.....unfortunately you probably see posts by me quite alot its only because i still lack that confidence in myself and just need that initial back up from the rest of the community instead of just groping about in the dark. But i will persevere i just wish this software had been out when i was a nipper lol.....Tayla

ps. can't wait to unleash this at the bar on thursday with what i've learned so far, its gonna blow there socks off !!!!!!

That's cool, I was just wondering if maybe restarting your computer might help when file info doesn't show up, doesn' look like it though!

It's great when you find a new feature that you didn't know was there, even after 14 months I still sometimes realise something I didn't know before or that I'd forgotten about!

Good luck setting everything up!

I've noticed this problem on my machine and two other machines I set up for other people. As one poster said, it seems to only happen after you've started playing songs on either deck. And it doesn't seem to affect video files, only MP3s. I get the song length, but not the BPM. If I load the song into the deck, it BPMs just fine. Very strange. This has been reported in the past, but no one seems to be able to track down the cause.

hi guys

I would suggest if you are doing any scanning at all (suppose it all depends on the size of your os) make sure that you have nothing loaded on your decks, with my system just been a lappy it could be like us trying to rub your stomach and your head in alternate directions at the same time (try it) for the os, better be safe than sorry. Can't wait for tonight, the look on their faces when they see those screens!!!

Just to go off thread a bit have you tried any of the video pluggins (to many to mention) mix a few of those together and the effect on the screens is just fantastic, don' forget about the new skins either they are excellent aswell those guys who make these pluggins are the business my hat goes off to them...catch you round the block...Tayla
