Topic: Is 4.3 harder on the ram or cpu?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I have my laptop working perfect. Is it ok to update to 4.3 or will there be more usage for ram or cpu?

Hard to say really... depends on your laptop! Personally, I'm still running 3.4, for me it seems a lot more stable. On the other hand, there's plenty of folks out there running 4.3 with no problem. I'd suggest you rename your vdj directory from "virtual dj" to "virtual dj old" or something like that, then install 4.3 and give it a try. If it's not happy, you can always remove it, then change the original directory's name back how it was, and all will be well.

there is no increased demand for 4.3 if you update from 4.2:)

older machines may run better than 3.4

First do not rename the folder as advised above.

Then install 4.3 in another folder (you can choose the folder during the install process) and you will have both version available and working without conflict ;-)

I stand corrected then - didn't know you could do that!

Hi there.

I'm running version 4.2r1 - I didn't know there was a version 4.3 available - does anyone know what the differences are between 4.2 and 4.3?

Come to think of it, where can version 4.3 be obtained from anyway?

Will there ever be a version made, which is guaranteed to work seamlessly on all computers of a certain minimum specification, I wonder? From what I've heard, DJ programs dealing with audio files only have a much easier job, compared to ones having to deal with pesky (complex) video files.

Best wishes
Barry

Thanks for the info, Gluzantzas!

By the way, I wonder why they don't call each new version by a number, such as version 5, 6, 7, etc?

Also, one thing I've been wanting for VDJ is the ability to widen the scroll bar down the bottom, where the music selections are made. It's too narrow to use quickly & easily in half dark conditions where typically I sit doing the DJ work. When I communicated this directly to the VDJ team two or three months ago, I was told such a mod was in the pipeline. Has anyone heard any more about this? That is, the ability for users to individually customise their skins?
