Topic: Clicking sound - PLEASE help!

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Tried virtual dj on a thinkpad x40.

Everything works superfine except ONE thing:
The sound from the soundcard set as 'secondary soundcard' clicks/stutters every second.

It doesn't matter if I connect the internal soundcard as first AND secondary OR I connect the internal/usb-soundcard as first/secondary. I don't even need to have the usb soundcard connected at all, it still clicks!

May seem like a simple performance issue, but it's not:
I can play two songs at the same time with lots of cpu left.

May seem like it's a bus, irq or dma collision, but it's not:
I can put the internal soundcard as first and secondary - and the secondary clicks.
I can put the usb soundcard as first and secondary - and the secondary clicks.

No matter which soundcard or which channel is playing, as soon as I chose two soundcards in setup, whatever soundcard set as 'secondary soundcard' clicks!

And nothing in the performance/quality tab matters, I've tried EVERYTHING in there.

I'm using the latest drivers for everything in the x40, directly from the lenovo downloads!

I really want to be able to use virtualdj on the thinkpad x40 so I would be extremely grateful if you could get this BUG sorted out. The secondary soundcard does something in software that the first soundcard doesn't do!

Enable Overclock option or Safemode, it should help and try lowering latency.
Which version do you use?

Tried the latest version and that worked. Which is strange because that version didn't work on a more powerful machine at first so I never tried it on the X40. Thanks for the answer anyway.

Nope, the reason I'm here is exactly the same problem - and I hoped to find a solution that works. I'm running CUE off a Toshiba P100 Pro which should be ample to handle what's going on and god knows the CPU meter isn't showing any major headaches. But when I'm playing in front of a full room and one frickin' side (and, yep, it's always the right hand side player for me too) starts 'clicking' and the only way to stop it is shutting down the program, if not restarting the whole laptop... That ain't good. If this doesn't work then I think I may be kicking Virtual DJ / CUE into touch as a failed experiment...

I'll give what been said here a whirl, see what happens.

What sound card do you use? Try Safemode and Overclock too and see what happens.

Yeah I had that problem on one of my pcs when I used the onboard card and just by puting performance on fastest, latency auto, and eabling safe mode that did the trick. You can also try "Simple Low Latency" on the soundcard options if you arent using a split setup.

Hi guys,

I brought a brand new laptop for use with VDJ & Maya44usb, and no amount of tweaking, ticking boxes or anything stopped the crackling noise i got when playing live, then i discovered something . . . .

If i minimised VDJ while a song was playing, the crackling stopped.

I checked to make sure the screen wasn't faulty, it was fine.

I checked to see if i had the latest video drivers, and here was the problem. I DID have the latest drivers, but they are not compatible with VDJ. For some reason the movement of the vinyl spinning around in the skin is causing a distortion / crackling interference.

A lot of people are going to have problems here, becuase the new driver gives you more screen resolution options. My native screen is 1440x900, with no skins that size available, i has happy when the new driver offererd me a whole new lot of resolution options, therefor is going to popular.

Also, windows update automatically installs this driver (if you have it enabled) and if you go to the NVIDIA website, this is the driver they offer you for download.

The driver you need has to come from the PC manufactuers website, as its been tweaked to stop this interference (apprently the problem is with new Hi-Def screens, and affects HP & Toshiba)

I downloaded the driver and all crackling stopped. Its not the latest driver, but its the driver that works.

I hope this might help anyone who is having the same problem.

Gary
