You need to post some info on what hardware and what software you are using. Is it a laptop with built in soundcard? and so on.

I guess you are using your PC or Laptop built in Soundcard. If your want to preview your mix or your next track with headphones you will need a External 5.1 soundcard of a midi control such as a Hercules DJ console MK2.
The External soundcard is the cheaper option. You can pick them up for about £20-£30 here in the UK.
The Hercules DJ console is around £130-£150. Have a look at www.hercules.com. This has a built in soundcard and it has good features. You can use the console to control VDJ. You also get a copy of VDJ Home Edition 3.4.
