Topic: What Song Rocks The Party Best - Page: 4

Hey chabonk, if I remember right you are in Gardena or somewhere around there. I am in South Orange County. My summer has been mostly been spent DJing at Diamonds in Brea (doing a double halloween weekend at the end of the month), and at Nationals Sports Bar in Anaheim for Angels postgame parties.

I used to only do Angel postgame parties on Friday and Satuday home games, but since they've made it to the playoffs and won their ALDS, I've been there for pretty much every game. I did skip yesterday and monday though. Last week I was there for every home and road game. That was a LOT of DJing. The local news was also there for all of the games. I was on the news a couple of times last week rockin' beats :-)

I think I'll take the video camera with me next time so you guys can see just how wild the scene is there after an Angel win. That is, if they win ....

DJGrey,

If you are the only Dj in miles around you're going to have a lot work!!! great... I hope you have success and can be soon a full member. ;-)

I'm the only DJ on my floor here in my office in SoCal. That's about as far as it goes. There are THOUSANDS of DJs here in southern California. The DMC competition turnout is unreal. DJs come out of the wood work I tell ya. But back on topic,... I think this thread is starting to get off topic a bit. A couple of old school hits I dropped on them last time out:

Biz Markie - Just A Friend (entire place was singing along)
Freak Nasty - Da Dip
Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is

These all had the crowd moving pretty good for a quick old school set. I also get a lot of requests / good response from:

David Banner - Play

Use em in your set and see how it works.

this is a great topic to really let other know what works in the scene. The hardest part of dj'in is knowing what people want to hear.
A couple joints i like to use are:
patra - worker man(i have an accapella of this too that work to almost anything)
house of pain - jump around (dance mix or pete rock remix)

I live in latin america, and most of the party scene here is composed by new hiphop, 'cumbia' and reggaeton... Reggaeton is hitting a lot lately, and cumbias have been around here for a really long time and are almost a guaranteed classic everywhere you go.

Other than that, people don't really appreciate techno.. just 1 or 2 people who come and ask for something deeper than benny benassi (that's a sure hit also).

And the lastest hits that are making their way up are Global Deejays and that kind of mix, starting from "california dreaming" (Huge hit)

Well I did my halloween party on Saturday night and it was a weird crowd. They weren't really responding to the normal club bangers that usually pack the dance floor. Yeah, I know, weird night. So I had to try a few things to find what they were feeling. I was playing some R&B or hip hop song and I teased them with some scratches from the begining of "Bell Biv Devoe - Poison". Even though it was a tease and the other song was still playing,.. they knew it was coming and all the hands went up and a collective "woooo hooo" from the dance floor. I scratched it one final time and let it drop, dance floor went crazy. Every single person on the dance floor was doing their best throwback BBD dance, and they all sang every word.

Weird man. weird. I let it play though.

Add "Bell Biv Devoe - Poison" to your last of far out stuff to try when nothing is working.

Does anyone know that white label "pre-mixed" hip-hop record that says "LADIES,.... FELLAS" (I guess the crowd is supposed to answer after LADIES, and then after FELLAS. Then they start talking places,.. like Puerto Rico. I hear this record all the time at the clubs but I have no idea who does it.

Whoever does it, this white lable gets the party moving. Although you know my stance on white label records.

[anewsome] Sounds like a Fatman Scoop song to me ?

possibly Faith Evans ft Fatman Scoop - Love Like This.mp3

???

This song sure does get the party going and girls love it. Its featured in the movie "Save the last dance and can be found on that soundtrack.

The song you guys are talking about is called "Fatman Scoop - Be Faithful (Featuring The Crooklyn Clan)". I have it, and yes it was in the movie Save The Last Dance and it is also a pain in the a** to find. It's not on the soundtrack for the movie so don't go looking for it there.

That's also not the song I am talking about. Next time I hear it I'll just ask the DJ I guess. Vinyl DJs know this stuff.

Hey i know i can't say whats good in clubs etc.. But at ANY disco or under 18s thing i go to...
"Dj Aligator - The whistle song" always gets the party jumping... But some versions of it ive heard are shocking..
also a techno version of salt 'n' pepers 'push it

well anewsome I'm a vinyl DJ although there are so many mixes with those lyrics. Another one you can try although its old school. DJ Kool ft Doug E-Fresh - Let me clear my throat

Anyhow let us know if you find it buddy.

DJ White Devil

Hey White Devl, Thanks for the heads up. I also have DJ Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat. I use it now and then when you need some crowd participation. That track as well as "The 900 Number" from DJ Mark The 45 King also gets the floor moving pretty good too. The only "whistle" song I have is the newer Juelz Santana and of course the old rap classic "Just Buggin'" by Whistle :-)

Hmm, I got some slow RnB songs here
Try to put it in your set:
Fatima Rainey - Hey
Black Eyed Peas - True
George Michael - Last Christmas (Hip Hop Mix)
Nelly - N Dey Say

That George Michael song is the hit,.. although I don't have the hip-hop mix.

the song that ROCK THE PARTY is of course:

MC Lyte - I Rock The Party

alternative is of course :

Benzino - Rock The Party

rock on! ;)

Good call norway. I've actually rocked a party with that track before. No pun intended.

hehe..

It was kinda a joke, but MC Lyte - I Rock The Party, actually rocks the party! as you say...

I love that song...

sometimes the dancefloor lives with older hits like

dee lite - groove is in the heart
mc hammer - can't touch this (mixes)
kiss - I was made for lovin you
donna summer - hot stuff (original and mixes too)

It's not a fatman scoop,.. it's some kind of white label remix of 'Frankie Cutlass - Puerto Rico'. Does anyone know what song I am talking about now? This track had the dancefloor absolutely on freaking fire. I can't stand white label wannabe DJs,.. but if I get this track I am playing it!
