hey,I just got my new timecoded vinyl in the mail. I am very happy about that. I am wondering can you wash the tcv with soap and water like you can with a normall piece of vinyl? Also are you supposed to regester your vinyl? If you are how?
Thanks

you just got them ...did they ship dirty? :) I would use something like gruv-glide.... soap can leave behind a film, some use rubbing alcohol 70% but i think that can be too harsh on vinyl. Maybe watered down some more. But honestly they are made for controls not keeping mint, just use them. I use only one side at a time so it kind of makes 4 copies not just 2.

Just a suggestion....DO NOT USE SOAP

Your tcv should be fine unless you live in a dust tunnel. I kinda doubt you do.

just take a clean soft cloth like terrycloth and wipe the dust off the vinal if needed.

Just don't use the tcv to eat off of and don't use them as dustpans and you should be fine.
lol

listen2 has given you some good tips in tcv care. I am just having fun with you. :-)

in settings go to sound cards, then low latency timecoded vinyl, then make sure you have the correct options selected in there (left =1&2 right = 3&4 not master = 1&2)

and yer i would use an ioniser cloth or pad to remove dust from the surface of the reccord (especialy if you dont have covers on your TTs or put them back in their sleaves) if your vinyl surface is starting to look very dirty with a collage of finger smudges then soap (real soap not the pump ones, they have all sorts of hand softening and fragrance etc that your vinyl just doesnt need) a lean mixture of washing up liquid in warm water is good but the most preferable is WD40 (never used it myself but i have heard people rave about how it cleans out the groves of those classics lke noones business.) if your gonna use soap etc make sure you rinse after and dont just let the residue dry on the vinyl.

it still doesn't work it only picks up input channels 1&2 and out put channels 1&2 how ever teh asio4all picks them all up and that is what i am running the maya 44 throught

are the tcv supposed to have grooves in themlike a regular vynnl cuz i don't think mine has any and soteh needle moves around.
