Hey Everybody...
I have bought 2 pieces of the CDJ-850 and they works very well :)
The Native support in VDJ is ok... But i have changed the mapping a little bit..
No crashes when i change the mode while using them with vdj, i can change to cd or usb and turn back to VDJ, Controller Rescan and everything works fine :) (while Track is playing or paused...)
The internal Soundcard i have only tried short time, i use my Audio8 so i can play up to 4 different tracks ;)
The ASIO driver (NEW VERSION AVAIBLE!!!) works in standard settings with 5,3ms... try for some laptops a little higher!
Now i have write to the support of Pioneer, because the 4 Buttons 'Browse', 'Taglist', 'Info' and 'Menu' didn't send HID commands, only Midi and so they are not usable at the moment..
It's a great Player, have the same Plattersize as '900' and '2000'... Native support with Textdisplay in VDJ... It Rocks ;)
Now I hope, that the VDJ Mapping Team more support the Display, how it is by the '900'.. Thats my only wish..

The buttons across the top are only there for use on the unit. They are not there for use with the software.
The display is what it is - there is nothing more that can be done with that display and there are no plans by Pioneer to support it any other way.
That is why there is a CDJ-900 and CDJ-2000 - if you want those 'Advanced' features you should have purchased them.

Sorry, but that is so not really correct.. The 4 Buttons are supported in PC use!! Description in the manual and i have test it with miditracer and hidtracer..
in miditracer are shown commands but in hidtracer not.. And when they Connected to the pc without opening VDJ, the buttons work!
I suppose the problem is by pioneer in the firmware, only midi data and no hid data is sent.
And I only means by supporting the display, that i can show all 3 rows by browsing and perhaps the waveform by playing..
And please... I hate it.. buy 900 or 2000... the 850 is a good product, had enough functions for my work and the pricing by pioneer is bad! Thats it..

I have try it and know what he mean... When you use the build in Soundcard of the player and you switch to cd, the program lost the soundcard-control and vdj is worry about that ;)
I use an external soundcard and have no probs...

I have 2 x Pioneer cdj-2000 players and did a test with Virtual DJ pro.
So far it works better with Virtual Dj then NI Traktor.
But it still needs a lot of improvements.
Here is a list of changes / improvements for Virtual DJ to work fine with the Pioneer CDJ-2000’s. Hopefully this can be implemented in next software release.
- Hot Cue Button: The Virtual DJ behaviour is not the same as the CDJs behaviour. Needs improvement. Also possibility to make from a Hot Cue Point a Loop, is missing. By the way Rekordbox saves these points including hot cue loops.
- Auto Quantize function to make fine loop points by inaccurate pressing. Also for Hot Cue points.
- Possibility to create a loop from a hot cue point.
- Jog Mode: Now only works vinyl mode. CDJ mode is not available. So can’t search points by (half a) frame.
- Vinyl Speed Adjust: touch/break and release/start don’t work as meant.
- Needle search: works but not the same as Pioneer players themselves.
- Direction switch: The track can be played reverse, but when back to normal Virtual DJ skips the complete part that was reversed. It starts at the point where the reverse switch was activated. Pioneer player works different and correct. Pioneer follows the track wherever you are in reverse or normal mode.
- Loop: works but needs improvements. Please program this the same as the cdj-2000. So the way it can adjust the in- and outpoints. etc.
- Loop cutter: works fine to cut the loop in half. Every time when you push the button the loop is divided. But backwards is not possible. The CDJ’s have the option to make the cutted loop longer again by pressing first the out-loop button and then together the 4-beat-loop button.
- Vinyl Speed adjust knobs: Behaviour for the vinyl speed adjustment knobs needs to be implemented in Virtual DJ.
- Tempo Reset button: It does not work. Needs to be implemented.
- Waveform on CDJ display: A waveform of the tracks is built up in the CDJs display. This needs to be implemented in Virtual DJ. Is a great feature.
- Artwork on display of CDJ’s: Needs to be implemented in Virtual DJ.
- Possibility to see a list of tracks on the cdjs display that are in the browser / playlist of Virtual DJ. And select tracks by the "Track search" buttons.

Hey there whats up
I have two cdj 900 runnin with vdj and its awesome, love the integration and stuff, but with the latest vdj update it tells me the firmware of the cdjs is old, when i have the current upgrade. any ideas as to why this is happening?
also slip mode doesnt seem to be workin. and one more thing, when using vdj and the wanting to change to cd or even usb, how can i make the change smooth without vdj crashing? it has happen to me multiple times, now i dont use this for my gigs but it would be awesome to know for future situations.
aaaah one more thing i forgot, it seems my hard drive is not being read by the cdj, any idea why ?

Make sure your 900s are set to advanced HID mode. If they are still set to standard you will get this firmware message when you launch VDJ.
On the CDJ hold the Utilities menu button for around 4seconds then scroll down to HID settings, toggle this from standard to advanced.
This should stop the message being displayed.

I have purchased new cdj 350s and djm 350 mixer, I also use vdj, the problem i have is when i try to configure the decks with vdj the remote control tab is not in the configuration menu which results in an asio driver error fault appearing on the screen. I have been using windows xp home edition with vdj for a couple of years with no problems, can anyone help please.....

The remote control tab has been replaced with a mappers tab. As for the ASIO error, make sure your sound config is set up correctly for the sound device you are using.
I have found that with XP home you must install the driver that comes with your Pioneer Rekordbox disk before VDJ will see these decks.
350s work fine with VDJ, but you must remember to rescan for the decks (this is under the mappers tab as well) when you change modes from HID to USB/CD and then back to computer control again.
There is another thread covering CDJ350s, I suggest you have a quick look at that.
How does the Pioneer CDJ 350 works ?

Only have them a few weeks have changed over from technics 1210s, I find them ok to use it took me a little while to get used to them. Thanks for advice will try and get them workin with vdj, have been trying all weekend with no success.

i was just wodering,
my cdj 400's support both midi and hid mode, i know i should use hid instead of midi because af all the benefits in hid.
however, i was just wondering, how do you switch between modes, is this done from within the unit, or is this application driven and cannot be changed.
not saying i want to use midi mode, but if it can switch , i want to know how

Hey..
The CDJ-850 sends with every button both signals, Midi & Hid.. So it depends on VDJ how the device work. Is there an Hid device mapping or an Midi device mapping..
But you didn't have to switch something on the device to change that..
And, only use HID ;) It's accurate.. yeah.. :)

I have connected my pioneer cdjs 350s with vdj, have got the correct sound and mapping settings configured but when i am playing a track on one deck and load a track onto the other deck, the deck thats playing stops altogether, just wondering if anyone can help, I have changed my laptop and it has windows 7 running.???????

I have a couple Questions about VDJ with CDJ2000's, I recently purchased a couple of them and upgraded the Firmware, everything (for the most part works ok) however, It starts to have latency Issues after a about a a half hour and starts sounding (garbled). VDJ it says to keep on Auto if not using Timecode CD's, I have tried all different setting but it still happens. Im using them with an Alienware m11X Duocore 1.3ghz and 6gigs of DDR3 Ram, Windows 7 64bit.
2) In VDJ when I try to use the FX like backspin or brake VDJ freezes and Shuts down.
Please give me some advise. Thanks!

Heureux possesseur d une djm-2000 depuis qq jours j ai un probleme a mapper qq fonctions de VDJ sur la Pioneer :
En entrant dans le mode Mapper/Midi le soft VDJ detecte les mouvements de programmation en provenance de la table , les enregistre dans la liste mais lorsque j essaye de controler le soft par la table rien ne se passe VDJ ne reagit pas.
Une Idee?
Est ce que quelqu'un aurait deja un mapping de la Pioneer djm 2000 deja pret ?

I m the happy owner of a DJM 2000 Pioneer and i have some problems mapping VDJ / DJM-2000.
When i enter the Mapping/Midi mode in VDJ the soft recognizes the input movements from the mixer and lists them in the soft but then when i try to control VDJ from the mixer nothing happens the soft doesn't react .
