you may be right guys latency may be an issue ..I use the pioneer sound crds i use them with asio, would it be better to use them wdm not using the asio drivers.. I did not have any issues with them...in 5.1 but i like the version mapper its great i set them up with a pitch+ and pitch - cue sets etc.. Seriously, When you are in a club setting and djing you drop a song, or a beat in and when you have sluggishness it just throws you off,, on top of it im doing about 70 percent video and 30 mp3 lossless... ..I dont have real good luck getting the sound quality i want with both decks in play also.... and thats only when the key is locked if i use them with the key unlocked it sounds great...
..
oh well ill just wait for the 3700s to come around hopefully soon.. im just frustrated.. i dont know how these issues dont affect ypou guys, especially mixing and ive been mixing for years.. guess im just a perfectionist.... who knows ..I give up with theses players ... so if you know anyone who needs a pair hit me up...

THANKS FOR LISTENING...

If you want me to, I can make a video for you. I can't really explain this any better.

No video necessary .. I have the controller ---

Check your Performance tab ... if Safe Mode or Overclock is checked then UNCHECK them.

Now a few questions:
1) How do I set effects to use while pressing HOLD and one of the 3 effect/cue/sample buttons?
2) How can I delete a hot cue without finding it in the waveform and right click?
3) How can I change the reverse button to do a forward reverse (tack continues in forward motion, but plays it backwards)? This would be great for blocking out swear words :)
4) What does "MEMORY" do? lol

I hope I can help in this investigation! :)

Thanks for all the help!

- DJ Stoyvo

#1 - are you asking 'How do you use the Menu feature?' which is assigned to the HOLD button.
#2 - well you would need to assign a button to delete_cue # - the problem is # -- something that can be thought about.
#3 - change the action to -> dump
#4 - toggles the Smart_Loop feature (lock to the right of the skin's loop section)

Unchecking them made no difference.

And...
1) how do I get the actual effect assigned to each button though?

Also, is it possible to have a two button map? So HOLD + Cue 1?

Does anyone know how to make the cdj 400 act like it does in 5.2, as in keep hold pressed down to select your effect and then also get the current effect to displayed in the text window when your scrolling through the effects???

Jamm, I am a perfectionist too. I just am not experiencing these problems like you are and I'm not sure why. To be on the safe side though I am still using 5.2.1 for gigs. Until it's fully tried and true I won't bust it out on a show.

I'm looping 4 beats and get it synced up, then i just cut in and exit the loop.... it works XD

Humm, must be a vdj issue with recognizing the request. Actually, it MAY be a timer (thread sleeper?) that's set to listen for requests, or something like that. I don't know, just assuming XD

Hi, chaps.

I see a number of posts regarding Pioneer players, especially those running them as hardware controllers for VV. However, I wanting to use my Pioneer DVJ-X1's to control my videos, as well as playing my DVD's. My thoughts were to run the output from the X1's to CUE / Virtual Vinyl and switch between running the DVD video outputs to two video channels on my AVM02, and Virtual Vinyl to a third, swapping DVD's for the timecode CD as required.

However, when in my local retailers and talking to a visiting Numark rep, he informed me that the timecode CD's won't work with the DVD-X1's due to 'signal lag'. Now, I'm curious, because that would make timecode CD's redundant to all platter based CD players, surely. So here's the question...

Was the Numark rep, not unsurprisingly, talking out of his arse?

I'm not massively keen on swapping to Serato Video because that would make my investment in CUE pretty redundant, also. But if I need to buy a new software / hardware interface combo, I will bite the bullet and do so. I suppose my reason for posting here is, is all of this a mute point if the Pioneer DVD-X1's don't allow for software control? Do they or don't they?

Any advice on setups and utilizations would be most appreciated (I'm counting on RuDeDoGG, to be honest - he has the most similar set up to me, according to his profile page, and frankly, he appears to have been LIVING on this site in recent months!!). Over to you...

Thanks Thumbsucker. Yes I guess you could say that I'm practically living here and the Pioneer ProDJ Community as well. I own my own business and have plenty of time on the computer and have recently got back into DJing so needless to say I have really taken this seriously!

As far as your question is concerned I really don't know the answer to it. Pulse is the "official" Pioneer rep here and he is the main moderator on the Pioneer website mentioned above. He is a wealth of knowledge and info on Pioneer products and other electronics and computers and is better equipped to answer than I am on this query.

When I bought my Pioneer gear I had seriously considered buying the DVJ-X1s and the SVM-1000 but realized that for about $5000 less I could do the same thing using my Pioneer CDJ-400s and DJM-800 mixer utilizing Virtual DJ! So with that extra $$ I bought music production vocal recording equipment to compliment what I already had.

Pulse checks here periodically but if you want a quicker result go to... http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve

Which is my other "home".

Post your question on the "DVJ Video Turntables" forum.

Thumb > I've honestly NEVER heard of any of the guys who use DVJs complain about "lag". You should certainly give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Jamm Here, This goes out to all THE Platter Pushin Papas out there , In VDJ 6.01

Thanks TO JpBoggis

* Map the jogwheel TOUCH action to: scratch_wheel_touch & vinyl_mode ? down ? hold on : hold off : nothing (NOTE: Spinbacks will not work with it mapped this way.)

THIS IS THE MAP AND WOO HOO , Ck the platter out Now

since i did that Ive not experienced any Problems, so GUYS,FOr Me it worked, Im seriously Happy about this Help,,,

Sincerely DJ JAMM

What did you change? Is this what I'm supposed to change on the mapper? Is it typed word for word correctly, I wanna try it but I want to make sure it exactly correct.

Thanks Jamm

TO RUDE Dogg and ALL CDJ 400 USERS THIS IS THE FIX FOR vdj 6.0 and it works for me on xp and vista

Some things for you to try:

* Map the PLAY button to play_pause and CUE button to cue_stop

* Map the jogwheel TOUCH action to:
scratch_wheel_touch & vinyl_mode ? down ? hold on : hold off : nothing (NOTE: Spinbacks will not work with it mapped this way.)

now WITH THE CDJ 400s
JOG_WHEEL is the actual movement of the jogwheel and is normally mapped to scratch_wheel for a touch-sensitive jogwheel. This needs to be changed with the param_multiply line (This increases or decreases the velocity of the jogwheel appropriately, making the scratrch more or less sensitive.)

JOG_TOUCH is mapped to the touch sensor and simply toggles it between jog wheel (Bend) and scratch wheel modes.

You might want to use the following to ensure that bend is not altered -
JOG_WHEEL should be mapped to the actions below exactly as shown (There must be spaces either side of & ? : )

JOG_WHEEL: vinyl_mode off ? scratch_wheel : play ? param_multiply 125% & scratch_wheel : param_multiply 200% & scratch_wheel

You can experiment with different values until you get the response from the jogwheel that you require.

this info is much appreciated due to Jpboggis, thanks boggis

please all cdj 400 users try this and you will not be disappointed, For Me now I have adjusted 125% param and seems to make a difference so please experiment and let me know what settings you like best

Sincerely DJ JAMM ( BARROOM PITTSBURGH)

Thanks Jamm & Boggis. Will give it a try, I'll post up my results.

Umm guys I noticed there is a mapper for the CDJ 1000 in the mappers folder! Needless to say this has peaked my interest. How in the heck is this usable? Being at a club that has 2 cdj 1000s and VDJ, if they can indeed me used with VDJ, without timecodes, the other residents would be all over this!

Someone spill the beans on this! LOL

Is it possible to have a device that will convert the "control" on the back of the unit to midi?

The CDJ-1000 is not a MIDI controller, so it is impossible to make a mapper for it. It can only be used with timecode CD's.

The mapper you saw is probably the one for the Pioneer CDJ-400, which is a MIDI controller.

I think someone at the club tried making one because there is Pioneer CDJ1000 mapping.xml in the mappers folder but is not on my personal desktop and laptop. I think I was "HAD". LOL

OK, finally I found time to screw around with the mapper settings for the scratch wheel on the CDJ-400 as posted by DJJAM and put together by Boggis and I must say...GOOD JOB!!! At first it didn't work right and I was like WTF!! Then I copied the text from the Jam's post and pasted it into the "Action" window of the chosen "key" and it worked!! It's still not quite as fluid as a CD but damn close! There are still some very slight latencies but I'm able to kind of work around that. I just can't get too fancy like with a CD but like I said it's usable whereas the way it was before was not.

Anyone with CDJ-400's that likes to do some minimal scratching as part of his/her show needs to do this, it works now!!

Thanks again guys!!

DJ RuDe

dear rude ..IF you change the first value 125% to lets say 100% or any other value, for example change the value 125% to 150% and ck the platter movement if you adjust you will see a difference in response..

I'm not Pulse obviously but I can offer some help in the mean time.

In order for you to use CDJ-1000s with Virtual DJ you will need a timecode solution such as Numark's Virtual Vinyl or a Rane Serato SL1. These two choices come with the timecode interface box and timecode CDs. Since the CDJ-1000s do not have USB support this is the only way to go, unless you buy a set of CDJ-400s like I did.

Sorry guys I meant to post this here......

Ok im having a really werid issue. So i upgraded to verson 6 the other day. Looks great although my cdj-400's are acting werid.. Deck 1 which is the left deck and deck 2 which is the right deck swaped all by themselfs? HUH yea is that happening to anyone else? I'd hate for it to happen at a gig that would be totally embrassing.... Please let me know if this has happened to you and if you were able to fix the issue.

P.s also noticed that all the remote options in the config menu are gone where did they go?

The answer to both your questions is located in the Mapping tab.

(Remote is now Mapping)

To fix the swap problem, just go into Mapping, in the drop down select the CDJ-400, click the button just to the right of it and click Swap
