I have a basic Toshiba Laptop with one gig of ram. Is this sufficient to play and search for my audio files (no video except some personal

Karaoke) with Version 6? I will not be on the internet with this.

Also should I uninstall McAfee to realize better overall performance?

For xp it is no problem - for vista 1gb is not really any use. If you are loading large videos there may be issues but audio only should be fine. I don't use anti-virus on any of my machines, but I beleive AVG free is quite resource friendly!. Vdj6 has the same system requirements as 5.2
