Can I put the latest version 6.0.4 on my computer while keeping the one I've been working with for quite a while, v5.2.1. I want to see if it doesn't cause any problems as I have experienced with v6 before. Can have both versions on my computer? They wouldn't be running at the same time.

@ SBDJ ,
after renaming and installing the new vdj , can I then copy and paste my database into the new version of vdj and it will read it perfectly ?

Once you install V6 it will convert the V5 database automatically. You will then have 2 databases in the relevant locations, a V5 one and a V6 one.

Damn , you have to start from scratch huh ??

If you have V5 installed already, just install V6 in a new location and it will convert the V5 database automatically.

No ,I have v6 installed and I want to install 5.2.1 and im hoping theres a way to copy my database onto 5.2.1???? If not it would be thousands of songs that I would have to recategorize you know what I mean...

I don't think the V6 database is backward compatible, maybe one of the teamers can assist here?

I'm looking to do the same thing, but I currently have 5.2.1 installed and running.
I just want to install 6.4 on a separate location to test it out using the same song info in the database I already have.
I then want to switch back to using 5.2.1 If I need too, while on a Gig.
Is This Possible??
Thank You

Yes Joey, it works perfectly.
I use VDJ 5.2 in the club and VDJ6 in the bar. No problems at all.
Only issue is you need to update each database seperately.

Thanks..kradcliffe, You mean Music would update exactly the same once you start the program, but the loops, que points ect... would not.

Depends on the way you have things configured music management ways, but I think cues, BPM's etc are database dependent so you would need to update both version databases seperately.
I have this issue as I use 5.2 in the club with the boggis mapper but V6 in the bar as it supports a good 800 x 600 skin for my U70 remote. It's not too much hassle though!

Any version's database can be copied to any new/old virtualdk version, is just matter of COPY & PASTE, and deppending on what kind of information the new/old database has, you may need to overwrite a few comands.
